Fantastic experience: We had the best experience with this service. They planned everything and made a detailed itinerary. They were very responsive to my emails leading up to the trip with regards to some changes I needed. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to do the Camino, but is intimidated by the planning of it all.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Camino Experience - Camino Portugues Coastal from Vigo to Santiago last 100km We booked the “Easy Walking” route with shorter distances – averaging 15 – 18 kilometers per day over 6 days and are glad we did. We enjoyed each day without being totally exhausted each evening and it gave us time to stop along the way for coffee and lunch. We chose Superior hotels which were lovely in all locations …some more rustic than others but with good facilities and comfortable beds and bathrooms. They were all right on the Camino route so no additional walking was required. We also included dinners at several stops and the meals were excellent….especially the one in Padron which was outstanding. We used the website to access our daily itinerary with the map to the hotel and found the milage and route accurate. The Camino Portuguese is well marked so we only needed to log on to the map at the end of the day to find the hotel. Downloading the maps for offline use wasn’t easy. It would be nice to have an app to access our itinerary rather than logging in to the website each time. We are planning another Camino in 2 years and will definitely use Camino Ways again

Negative experience: Our group of 10 walkers on the Camino Norte was totally disgusted by lack of adequate information, zero assistance on arrival and zero contact during and after our entire 3 week walk... Literally ALL CW did was to book the accommodation (much of which was sub-standard) and book the luggage transfers with Correos (the postal service). Typical of a company that’s grown too big for its original purpose, each time I contacted CWs I had to deal with a different agent/person! Even though we booked all 5 double rooms more than a year in advance they booked us in to one hotel for 4 nights and offered to taxi us to and from the Camino!! Compared to other reputable trekking companies we have used CaminoWays does the absolute minimum for their money!! Never again…

Fantastic experience: October 2024 Our trip on the Portugal Coastal Route was amazing. We had all sorts of weather, met amazing people, ate great food and saw so much history along the way. It was a trip that has spurred us on to do more! I really enjoyed walking all of the different types of pathways: boardwalk, sand, gravel, cobblestone, Roman roads, dirt paths, city streets and alleyways. We had our luggage transferred which made our daily walks much easier. Our breakfasts were prepared for us. We brought power bars, and liquid IV supplements to add to our water. There were many places to stop along the walk each day for snacks, lunch, coffee.... lots of coffee:) The super bock wasn't bad either:). We did not schedule dinners so we had the flexibility to choose our restaurants, and the time we wanted to eat. I am glad we packed properly for our feet, our rain ponchos, and extra socks. I brought a product for blisters called Compeed. I highly recommend that, made the difference for both myself and my husband on day one. We took walking sticks, but I did not use mine as much as I thought I would. I think I over used them the first two days and my shoulders were sore and felt pinched so I put them away for most of the rest of the walk. We walked from Porto to Santiago. (285 km) One other thing I would do differently would be to give ourselves two days in some of the locations along the way so we could really explore. The weather changed some of our experiences, views we would have had if it had been clear, but that is something one can never control, just the attitude about it. Walking the countryside, coastal paths and mountain trails was an absolutely beautiful experience.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my first Comino de Santiago trip with Caminoways.com. I must say the attention and the details they put into my trip/bookings way more than 5 start. Fantastic experience: My son and I had a fabulous experience on the Camino Primitivo. CaminoWays was very accomodating to our unique schedule and intended pace. The communication was clear and without surprises. The standard accomodations were all nice. I definitely recommend CaminoWays without hesitation.

Positive experience: Overall my wife and myself had a wonderful experience on the Camino recently. We started our journey in a town called Sarria where the accommodation ( Hostel) does not suit older pilgrims like ourselves. The same applied with the accommodation in Palas de Rei where thankfully our room was situated on the first floor because there was no lift to carry suitcases. I helped others to carry their luggage up many flights of stairs. The accommodation in Melide, Arzua and Amenal were terrific along with the food, staff and rooms. Arzua was our favourite hotel. The rooms in Santiago were comfortable but had traces in mould on the walls and around the window. Highlights from our pilgrimage included the amazing Cathedral in Santiago, meeting people from all over the world and every Continent. Along the way we met 60 teenage girls with their teachers from Dublin where we come from singing George Michael's Careless Whisper as they walked along. We walked with them for a while as we sang and remembered the great Christy Dignam singing Crazy World with his band Aslam. We will treasure these memories.

Fantastic experience: Our second trip as a group of 5, this time from Viterbo to Rome. A wonderful time had, with such welcoming and hospitable hosts along the way. In particular in Sutri, where our agriturismo destination was made fabulous by the family who own the hazelnut farm. Camino ways have organised us another successful trip!

Negative experience: We used Camino Ways as the agent to book our Camino Frances Self Guided Walk. We booked 12 months in advance and chose the superior collection. When we finally received details of the accommodation they had booked, some of the so called superior accommodation was clearly not. What was surprising is that some of the hotels presented in the quote couldn't be booked, even though we had booked 12 months ahead! In addition to this, the check-in times were not provided for any of the hotels. In essence we did not receive the accommodation expected when booking. Compared to other Walking Hoilday Companies we have used, Camino Ways do as little as possible for their money.

Fantastic experience: Great experience loved it would do it again. Only complaint is the food if it's included in package. We went to different restaurants in the end to choose our own food even though it was extra as the food included in the package was awful like prison food. After a days walking you want to be well fed so we used to get a nice big lunch during day incase we couldn't get decent dinner in evening. I mean a leg of chicken and rice it's hardly what Spain is known for. Was looking forward to decent restaurant in Santiago to splash out. An idea would be to give vouchers to use and you can choose from a main menu in hotel and pay the balance then if you got extra.

Fantastic experience: After walking from Sarria to Santiago, we chose CaminoWays to help us with our second leg of pilgrimage via bike. We rode from Santiago to Fisterra to Muxia. The CaminoWays service was outstanding and our whole trip was fully enjoyed without a flaw. Both bikes were delivered with plenty of time to make our personal adjustments for comfort. We were provided with safety equipment and tools needed to make our ride safe. The bikes themselves were in great condition and the brakes worked GREAT! It was a good thing too because there were some steep descents! Saddle bags kept our clothes and personal items dry and secure throughout. We have never used a luggage service before (not even while walking on the Camino Frances) so we were a bit nervous how it would work out. Well there was nothing to worry about! Our backpacks arrived before we did at each location. We also were very appreciative that every albergue/hotel booked had gluten free options on their pilgrim menus and even offered us gluten free bread. Can't say enough what a wonderful experience we had. Thank you for making our first Camino a Buen Camino!

Positive experience: My first experience of walking a Camino (September 2024) so I was a little unsure of what to expect. CaminoWays helped me to plan my itinerary and organised very efficient transport of luggage, accommodation and meals. Information about locations and type of accommodation didn't come through until after paying in full for our booking. Some of the accommodation was stunning with wonderful breakfasts and home cooked evening meals, others not so great. Even better next time - I would advise checking the distances in kms between locations very carefully as they sometimes differed quite significantly to those CaminoWays gave us which made long days even longer. But overall I had an amazing time with the security of knowing I didn't have to worry about anything except my Camino and the team at CaminoWays were incredibly responsive to messages I sent during my Camino. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have just returned from our first trip on the Camino de Santiago organised by Camino ways. It was a great experience and the organisation was flawless.. the system worked beautifully ! Hotels all had our bookings and the luggage transfer was very efficient. Furthermore we met nothing and nobody that wasn’t courteous and pleasant on the way. The walking element is challenging at times but doable ! I would certainly recommend Camino Ways to organise a trip such as this . Ps a suggestion for cyclists on the way.. PLEASE USE THE BELL ON YOUR BIKE !

Fantastic experience: We booked the guided tour with CaminoWays from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela from April 14th to April 21st, 2024. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. From our guide, Juan Lopez Rendondo to the other amazing peregrinos we met. Our group was fabulous. Peregrinos from the USA, England, Singapore and Manilla. We both highly recommend CaminoWays to all and anyone interested on walking the Camino. CaminoWays made all the arrangements from hotels, meals as well as transferring our luggage. Fantastic experience: Great experience. Knowing where you are staying and having your bags delivered each day makes the trip so much easier.

Negative experience: The OK: Hotel reservations were as booked, luggage transfers were smooth as well. For improvement: Support materials such as luggage tags, instructions, route maps, even the credencial were not mailed and we were told to find it online, or print out ourselves. Which begs the question: why book through CaminoWays if you can do it all yourself? Which we should have done. Just google (as was recommended anyway), and use booking.com. Luggage transfers could be found online as well. Another low point: because our rates were "tour group" rates, most rooms were downgraded and did not have a view. This hurt most at the Parador de Baiona, our last stop. We were given an interior courtyard room. Our friend who booked directly with the hotel got the awesome view of the coast and the sunset. Sigh! Fantastic experience: makes the camino stress free so you can focus on the journey

Negative experience: Our 3rd time using Camino Ways for the Via Francegna. We are a group of 6 senior ladies who are usually very content & understand the odd shortfall but this year was unacceptable - transfers were good, accommodation sadly lacking in standard & customer service on 4 of our 8 nights. In fact 2 hotels were not prepared for our arrival. The in house dining as confirmed & paid for was not factored in the booking by the proprietors at 4 locations with an end result of a negative flavourless thrown together meal. Breakfasts equally as bad. We did ask as to how the accomodation & dining was verified by Camino Ways but we are still waiting for a response. We have corresponded all our concerns with Customer Care at Camino Ways & are truly dissatisfied with their non accountable responses- a simple sorry & some small recompense would have alleviated our deep disappointment.

Fantastic experience: My first Camino was in Sept 2015, a charity event that used Camino Ways. Since then I have undertaken another 8 Camino's using Camino Ways -it's tried & tested and works for me! This past 3 years I have undertaken the Portuguese Camino in May and part of the French Way in September. Hotels are always spotlessly clean, efficient and friendly. Luggage Transfers over the past 9 years have always been spot on, as have taxi transfers, always on time, never an issue. As a regular user of Camino Ways I am aware that hotel details are not confirmed until all payments made. I am aware that some hotels may not be in the town and you may have to walk a little further - it is all part of the Camino experience. In recent years Camino Ways have added a 24 hour support service. In May 2023 when our flight was delayed by a few hours (not arriving until after midnight), Camino Ways were in constant contact with me, even on our 2 hour taxi ride to hotel, and informing our hotel of our late arrival. Excellent service, well worth paying a little extra to have this peace of mind and someone to help out if you need it. I walk with different groups so it can be a little tricky to work out the arrangements, but Camino Ways always get it right. Would totally recommend Camino Ways.

Negative experience: I was excited to book my Camino with this company, but after my experience I urge you to consider one of the other options. I was essentially bilked out of $1750, and ended up booking my own trip. Even adding in the extra money that I threw away, self-booking was far cheaper, plus I knew what I was getting and was able to make changes for months if needed. If you still want to use them, consider a few things: 1. Once you pay your deposit, they consider your trip locked in. They charge 180 euro for any change. I thought the deposit would allow me to keep the trip open for at least a few months since I was 10 months out, but no. There is no warning of this on the website. Don't pay a deposit unless your plans, including dates and stages, are firm. 2. Once you pay your deposit it's gone, no matter what happens. If you break your leg, they'll still keep it. Even during COVID these money-grubbers did not refund. 3. They do not guarantee that you'll get the accommodations they list on your itinerary. 4. When you've paid your deposit, the nice young woman who helps with your initial itinerary is replaced by an endless series of hardballers who charge you for everything, and with no quarter given.The vibe is very stern and hard. I ended up letting my deposit go and self-booking, because I didn't want the negativity in my life. I'm sure there are good companies out there, but this isn't one of them. Beware, beware, be very wary.

Fantastic experience: Portuguese Coastal, Vigo-Santiago. March 2024 Much apprehension being first time solo traveller. However, information provided by Camino Ways in planning process alleviated many concerns and instilled confidence. I was relieved to find my ride from airport had waited for me due to my flight delay in landing. My hotels were all on route, easy to find, very clean with friendly, helpful staff. The food (breakfast/dinners) was exactly what I was prepared for, very good and abundant. The route mileage was perfect for my abilities. The people throughout were so kind and the country lovely. Negative experience: Do not use this company. They take your money then book your accomodation some of which is substandard by which time you have lost control. They do not attempt to tailor the trip to your requirements and there is no help getting transport when needed. Use this company at your peril unless your standards are low!!

Negative experience: Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback on our recent trip along the Camino Ingles. Overall, our group thought your service was only satisfactory---not above average let alone outstanding. We do give you high marks for booking the accommodations and moving our luggage. The rooms were generally ready when we arrived, and our bags were always there. However, there are a few things we found to be extremely unsatisfactory which marred our experience. • The hotel in Pontedume, while convenient to the Camino itself, was substandard, had few amenities, and provided neither dinner nor breakfast, which we had paid for. • The hotel in Betanzos was nice---but we were told we’d have to go to another establishment for dinner. We were informed that the restaurant that was usually used was not open, so we were sent to what amounted to a dive bar about five blocks from the hotel. The meal was awful…not what we paid for. • The hotel Sigueiro was quite nice---but once again we were told that dinner was not included. So, we went to the restaurant and had to pay for our supper even though we had already paid you. • The hotel Santiago was adequate…but again, no dinner even though we paid for it. • This means we had to pay extra for the services you promised and that we paid for. Shabby treatment to say the least. A couple of other issues: Your customer service seemed to end as soon as you were paid. Specifically, Tony DeLateur and I mistakenly paid extra for our rooms…Tony two nights that had already been paid for an me one additional night that had already been paid for. We were informed that we would be reimbursed when everyone in our party had paid. However, we are now being informed that we will not be reimbursed…this is a pure rip off. Bottom line: I’d recommend that people use Camino Ways to book rooms and move baggage but not rely on you to provide the rest of the promised services. Positive experience: It was raining all the time and they put me in hotels without blowdryers for my shoes and clothes. What follows? Walking in wet shoes and having a bunch of wet clothes.

Fantastic experience: Thanks to Camino Ways, we had an unforgettable walk on the Camino del Norte. Our accommodations were wonderful, clean and well-located. Many of our hosts were friendly, engaging and helpful (bless the host who did our laundry and hung it out to dry ... there's NOTHING better than clean socks in the morning!). The luggage transfer worked like a charm. We were provided comprehensive information in advance of our trip that was helpful (including how to prepare physically for the challenge). As a result of Camino Ways' diligence and attention to detail, we had a most amazing and fulfilling walk. Our camino experiences are seared into our memories ... hearing the choir at the Bilbao cathedral, walking the Flysch near Zumaia, soaking in the coastline as you approach Santander, strolling Cathedral Beach near Ribadeo at low tide, the caretaker of a tiny rural church who unlocked the doors for us, and the elation of entering the cathedral courtyard in Santiago de Compostela. We highly recommend Camino Ways for helping you live the dream of the Camino.

Positive experience: This was functional. There was not much support in setting me up for success. Some times the places they chose were far from the trail.

Fantastic experience: Caminoways was wonderful. I had no problems and they were very fast with responding if I emailed them a question. My tour guide mark was wonderful and I hope other people on the tour guided walks have him. I would 100% book through caminoways again.

Negative experience: I would advise booking your own accommodation on the route. Unfortunately they take a premium rate and book very very average hotels.

Negative experience: I traveled on the Camino with 10 others from my hiking club. If I was to do it again, I'd book all my own lodging. We paid for the Superior Collection of hotels and out of 8 lodging places, only 3 were of the Superior Collection (for a much higher price). They should not offer something they can't deliver on. In the end, after much arguing, I got $70 back per person. I was put in a few pretty rough looking hotels; one was a smoking room. If lodging is important to you, map out your own route and pick your own hotels. Then you won't be surprised. The Portuguese Camino is well traveled and by picking up a few maps, you can figure which towns to stay in. Most places offer a free breakfast and you can find your own dinners locally. The Camino Ways people state they offer maps and online support, but to be honest, we never used it. There are services everywhere and folks are so kind in helping you out with whatever you need. Lots of tour companies are making all kinds of money off tourists. Don't be afraid to book your own lodging and meals directly with the hotels. That way, no surprises. Great trip by the way. Trying to think of something positive to say about Camino Ways. Hmmm..... we did have a couple of great hotels. 3 of the 8 that were nice. Trip support was good with maps but you can pull them from Google. Overall, I think we overpaid for what we got, IMHO.

There recommendations to start were great. I was able to tweak the plan through the website easily to make it work best for our family. Once we were on the pilgrimage, the travel documents provided by CW were clear and everything was easy to follow. All of the their choices for sleeping and transportation provided excellent service. Fantastic experience: A fantastic Camino trek. The instructions were very clear, the lodging fantastic and the food delicious. All expertly organized and conducted by Camino Ways.

Positive experience: We walked San Sebastián to Bilbao with Canino Ways. Received poor customer service - robot like responses of complete disinterest in solving our issue(s). I would book your own hotels and don’t use this company, thats how i will do it if i do another leg as some are very basic and although friendly staff, one was on an industrial estate with no nearby restaurants. We asked them to cancel our Bilbao hotel and refund us - days in advance and met the same robot like standard ‘no’ from customer service. The Bilbao hotel was fine - we just wanted to find a twin room with bigger beds as it was hard to get decent sleep on small single beds. All hotel staff were nice. Watch out if you arrange luggage transfer from hotel to hotel, we were under weight but got charged double as we had our clothes in a small wheelie and small rucksack as we did other travel before the walk, but although our stuff was smaller in size and weight than other pick ups we were charge 13.00 a day each additional for the days we had two small pieces of under weight luggage - only response to our request to reconsider was to be sent a reminder bill to pay up :-(

The luggage transfer were seamless, and they were able to accommodate changes in transfers on the fly. We traveled on the Superior accommodations and I HIGHLY recommend it. Some of the stays were very nice, some were terrific, and two were out of the world nice. (Baiona and Casa Loureira)

Fantastic experience: We left Porto with 7 friends all around 58 years old on bikes. We did the Portuguese route along the coast. We passed through very beautiful places perfect for biking. There were many climbs and some trails closed with stones which were the challenges. We had only 2 flat tires and 2 pedals that fell off (we needed to buy a wrench to fix them), some gear adjustments, and routine tire calibrations. It was an incredible experience with good breakfasts and dinners. Hotels overall were very good. We didn't need the company's support during the journey. The luggage transfer went smoothly. Incredible experience, I recommend it and want to repeat it on other routes!

Fantastic experience: I did the Camino Frances by bicycle during August 2023. Excellent communication and detailed information about the trip.

Negative experience: Asked in mid-June if it was possible for me to join a friend who had booked a Camino trip much earlier and for us to be in the same hotels. I quickly received a quote linked to my friend’s itinerary “so that you can be in the same accommodations”. They gave no caveats. After I had paid the full price, received an itinerary showing 50% different hotels, some in a different town, some going backwards requiring taxis. The answer was “she said you can be in the same accommodation, but never a confirmation”. Also said an update would come “next week”. Two weeks later, hadn’t heard from them, so cancelled the trip and took the 50% loss. Since yes means no for this group, I had no trust to wait on further action. I was also told many accommodations were booked months before I asked my question. So why didn’t they say so, instead of sending the misleading reply? I asked a reasonable and straightforward question, didn’t receive a reply that in retrospect, appeared to be truthful even at the time. Nothing about my interactions with their customer service inspired any confidence.

Fantastic experience: If you want to come to the Camino de Santiago, CaminoWays is the right choice. The routes they plan, along with accommodations, meals, and luggage transport services, allow you to undertake your pilgrimage in the simplest way possible.

Fantastic experience: This was my first Camino walk and I'm really glad that I used Camino Ways. It was a learning curve for me and I definitely didn't prepare enough, so it was really challenging. However, I really liked Camino Ways because the hotels were phenomenal, the route was mapped out appropriately, and I was able to get both assistance and my questions answered prior to and, at times, during the walk. Using them was the right move for me, since each hotel I went to after walking for the day felt really special, and the things that Camino Ways provided were what got me through the challenging days. It felt like a personally designed journey and I could tell that they'd done their research and built connections with hotels, restaurants, and other resources. It made my first walk memorable and powerful in ways I didn't expect. I'd use Camino Ways again in a heart beat. I wanted to add to my review (a year later) after some reflection. It took a lot of thought to go with a company to help me with this walk and the first few weeks in trying to get information was a little bumpy. However, here's why I gave CaminoWays 5 stars. Aside from what I wrote above, I had some minor issues and confusion when first getting set up with CaminoWays; however, the manager ended up reaching out to me and took really good care of me throughout the entire process. She answered all of my questions within a few hours, helped me with any issues I had, and had everything set up - and after walking for hours and experiencing every emotion I think I could experience, this was an absolute lifesaver and I don't know if i would've made it without her dedication to my experience. Plus the hotels, meals, and having someone to talk with me when an issue came up (and one did briefly at the beginning of my walk) were incredible. And in the end, it was all worth it and I had a profound and meaningful experience. I'm considering doing part of the walk again later, and I have every intention of again using CaminoWays. They just made it that much more special and in the end, I couldn't thank them enough. I didn't realize that this could be such an amazing experience, even when it got hard.

Fantastic experience: Excellent trip with Camino Ways. This was my second time to use them. I went with my three sisters this time, and we were all completely impressed with the excellent no hassle service provided. We booked Standard accommodation, B&B with dinner provided for 3 evenings. Luggage transfers, and Taxi transfere on arrival in Santiago to Vigo for the start of our trip. All of the accommodation was comfortable and clean. But the hotel we stayed in for two nights in Santiago at the end of our Camino, was definitely higher than standard accommodation. The extra bonus was, the discount we received because I was a returning customer. Thank you Camino Ways for providing us with the very best!

Fantastic experience: We had great time with our CaminoWays organized trip. The hotels were great. Breakfast was included every day and dinner on most of the days. The luggage transfers and the pick up from/to the airport were flawless. We had to change the time of our transfer back to the airport and they were able to accommodate that.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic week walking the first six stages of the Camino. Information and organisation by Camino Ways all excellent, with good accommodation, all but one hotel very close to the route. Luggage transfers all worked perfectly. We've now got the Camino bug and will be returning to complete the other stages!

Positive experience: RE: CW174763-StephenBrockmann My hiking companion, who has already submitted his review of our Camino stage from Conques to Cahors, was in my estimation too kind in his assessment of Camino Ways's service. First, contrary to what was stated on the itinerary supplied by Camino Ways, our dinner at Hotel Pont d'Or in Figeac was not pre-paid. The hotel charged us for meals which we had been led to believe were already paid for. No explanation has been forthcoming from Camino Ways regarding this discrepancy. Second, there was a major problem with our next-to-last destination, Mas de Vers. Because Mas de Vers has no accommodations for hikers on the Camino, Camino Ways led us to believe that transport from Mas de Vers, our penultimate stop on this stage, to Cahors, would be available. This was not the case. Mas de Vers is a very small farming community of about five families and there are NO public services (cafe, bar, grocery) where one might be able to arrange transportation to Cahors. It appears that Camino Ways had not performed due diligence to assure that such services would be available. I doubt that the people from Camino Ways had ever been to Mas de Vers to determine the true state of affairs. Had it not been for a congenial resident, we would have been stranded there. Unacceptable! Now, having said this, I must agree with my friend's assessment that our luggage transfers were problem-free and that our accommodations were for the most part quite pleasant.

Positive experience: I am deducting 1 star as I was the lead walker in group trips arranged thru CW - my one piece of advice is -do not be the lead walker . You will be CW’s contact for all of your group. On positive notes, we have walked as part of groups arranged thru CW, in Spain France Italy and Portugal and thoroughly enjoyed all our walks which passed without incidents. We’re using them again for our next walk in Tuscany in Sept. ‘23. Bon voyage.

Fantastic experience: We recently used Camino Ways for our hike from Santiago to Finesterre and Muxia. We were very pleased with the accommodations and had no issues! We booked standard for this trip (usually book the country cottage upgrade) but our accommodations were pleasant and comfortable. This was the 3rd trip that we have booked with Camino Ways and feel confident that we would use them again in the future.

Positive experience: We booked our first pilgrimage through Camino Ways which gave us the confidence to do it. But despite them knowing we were vegetarian, they were not helpful at all when we contacted them to let them know that they had put us into hotels that did not cater at all for us. And as a result of this, I would not use them again.

Fantastic experience: Communication with Camino Ways was very helpful at every stage. As we were self guided, we found the route well marked and beautiful and varied. Purchasing the book - Walking the Via Francigena pilgrim route Part 3 (Cicerone Walking Guides) was very helpful especially for information regarding water taps, a rest point and having knowledge about the necessity to purchase food before leaving some towns. Prior to going we worried about the 'blue line' on Google maps but this was an excellent back up to the signposts and super that it could be set up off-line. All the hotels and meals included were excellent. Transfer of luggage was very efficient.

Fantastic experience: Camino Ingles from A Coruna to Santiago de Compostela Had quotes from a couple Camino guides and CaminoWays were the ones who 'listened' to my specifications. They scheduled the 75km over 3 days, which gave a couple tough days walking - but their instructions and planning were clear, informative and comprehensive. The Casa Rural lodgings on Day One were perfect - authentic Galician hotel with excellent wholesome food. Everyday our luggage transfers were in situ as expected (phew!). Highlights were the detour we took to see the receptacle which Jesus allegedly turned water into wine at the Cana wedding. My feet wished the detour was closer! The hospitality of the Galicians we met, the peace and solitude and, of course, the beautiful Cathedral at the end. Hope to walk a longer Camino in the future, and hopefully with CaminoWays.

Fantastic experience: 4 friends, 5 days biking 290 km, 6 nights. Bikes were hard-tail, absolutly excellent condition. Side bags were handy, helmets good too. Gear was found to be sufficient when we needed to fix a tire puncture (luckily only once). Hotels along our customized route were convenient, just what we needed at the end of the day. Overall, planning and reservations were all so seemless that we needed no support during the entire trip! Can't wait to do another leg of the camino. Thanks Camino Ways!

Negative experience: Booked a week on the Camino with Camino ways, very disappointing They changed all but 2 of our hotels last minute and one of them in particular was awful. Room was appalling, no water in shower, room smelled of cigarettes, small window in roof, air con didn't work. I fed this back to Camino ways both at the time and afterwards and have heard nothing. Prior to our departure they asked if we had any dietary requirements and we requested vegetarian food option for one of our party but this was not arranged with the hotels. Disappointing experience and customer service is poor. If I went again I'd either book it myself or go with another company.

Negative experience: I bought my trip to Santiago de Compostela with Caminho ways 60 days before the trip. Unfortunatly 40 days before my trip I broke my foot and therefore had to cancel the trip. Even for a medical reason, the reimbursement was only 50% of the amount. I believe this percentage is only fair for those who cancel voluntarily, but this was not in my case. They also didn't give me the option to postpone the trip...

Fantastic experience: Absolutely first class experience, all round. Easy Walking Sarria to Santiago Camino, group of 12 - lovely, spotless hotels, good plentiful pilgrim’s dinner with free-flowing wine, reliable airport and luggage transfers, and fantastic timely support from the Camino Ways team in Ireland. Thoroughly recommend.

Positive experience: Our Camino was planned well. I was mostly satisfied with the lodging that was chosen. One was not suitable, but tolerable. Most were excellent, and one was over the top fantastic. The service prior to departure was satisfactory. We did not use their assistance while in Spain. The company instructs pilgrims to print a paper luggage tag. It is flimsy and tears off easily. The transportation company did not replace this tag and I had to improvise and scramble to get a luggage tag to identify my baggage. One member of our party had to drop out. Per the contract, he was not refunded any money. However, the accommodation and meals were canceled without permission. Double rooms were changed to single, innkeepers had the reservations canceled and not paid. This is a case of legal but somewhat unethical behavior in my opinion. Pressing the easy button to plan a Camino has its price, but sometimes you have to do the right thing, even if you lose. Shame on a pilgrim centric entity that may not adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Positive experience: I booked a Camino hike on the Via Francigena from Siena to Rome. I spent two nights in the lovely Duomo hotel in Siena before starting my hike on 13 March to reach Rome on 26 March. Had I planned better I would have booked a rest stop half way so that I would not be walking for 13 days straight. 13 days of continual walking is not the best at 61 years old. Luckily the weather was fine for most days but one during which it poured rain the whole day. It is not good walking in the rain despite all the wet weather gear. It was a beautiful hike through Tuscany and most of the accommodation booked was in the old parts the town's not far from the trail. Only in two places was the accommodation about 20 minutes from trail at Agriturismo hotels. Very fine hotels but a bit extra to walk although Camino Ways did arrange a transfer from the trail to the stopover. The few times I needed to contact Camino Ways to sort out some matters they were very responsive through WhatsApp - a great communication mode. The only problem was with a change to the last accommodation stop in Rome. I requested a double room after my initial booking so as to accommodate myself and my partner who was meeting me on Rome, but unfortunately the original hotel could not supply a double room as they were booked out. Unfortunately, I was found a double room in the Hotel Kennedy near the Termini rail station. That hotel has seen much better days. One has to carry one's luggage, in this case my partner, up two flights of stairs to reception. The room itself had no bar fridge to keep any drinking water, there was exposed wiring in the bathroom and the walls looked like someone had walked up them. It was the worst hotel I had experienced my whole trip. I would not recommend the Hotel Kennedy. My partner complained to the person at reception but there were no other rooms available. He said we could tell the manager the next day. But as we were only staying one night we did not think it was worth it as we were relocating to an airBnB. Despite the last hotel incident I will not allow that to ruin my experience of the whole trek. It was a great experience and I found the people at Camino Ways always helpful. Fantastic experience: I’ve used CamiWays for 4 hiking trips. They take the stress out of organising a trip and would highly recommend.

Negative experience: We booked 4 star hotels when we walked the Portuguese Camino. . The first three hotels were very large, sterile hotels with LOTS of tour buses. They were located away from the heart of the cities. There were several lovely hotels but, in addition to the large tourist hotels, there were two that were basic. We booked 6 months in advance so we don’t believe that it was a problem of late booking. We didn’t know specific hotels until right before we left the US.

Negative experience: Camino Ways demonstrated to us that they do not have first-hand knowledge or experience of the Camino de Santiago. They are competent at designing itineraries and transporting luggage but are unable to provide insight into what can be expected on each stage of the Camino. They are also unable or unwilling to provide assistance if there are any challenges for cycling or walking the Camino. They contract with a company, Cycling the Camino, that provides poorly maintained mediocre equipment. I will look for a company in Spain if I revisit the Camino again. Contracting with a company based in Ireland was foolish of me in hindsight.
