Fantastic experience: Spent 3 days cycling across Ireland… Danny our guide was brilliant … routes were excellent avoiding main roads and had support vehicle for issues and well timed breaks. Couldnt recommend them enough

Fantastic experience: Danny led a group of us across the country over three days. Our cycling experience ranged from occasional spins to absolutely zero. Cycle Safaris organised the route, bike rental, the accommodation and the food - not to mention the brilliant Marcin in the support van. All we had to do was show up in lycra. Everything went off perfectly and Danny managed to shepherd us around the country without at any stage there being a gripe or grievance. Couldn’t recommend Cycle Safaris highly enough and we’re already looking forward to our next trip.

Fantastic experience: I did recently a trip Coast to Coast with Irish Cycling Safaris and was amazing. The route planing was perfect, Danny was a brilliant guide. They picked amazing places for us to stay and made this trip even more amazing. Highly Recommended.

Positive experience: The scenery was amazing and everything I have ever hoped for! The hills were beautiful but would have been difficult to enjoy without the help of the e-bikes. It would be helpful if the bikes were equipped with an odometer so that including distances to the next turn. In addition or instead of a 15 page direction packet with paragraph instructions on where to turn maps of each days recommended rides would have been extraordinarily helpful. Without google gps and our own planning we wouldn’t have reached each destination in our self guided trip without getting lost and having to backtrack to see where we went wrong. The first day was frustrating without knowing we just needed to use google instead of the provided information. In addition a plastics zipper bag to carry the maps was less than adequate in a country with so much rain. We took several wrong turns and didn’t feel directions telling up to look for a blue barn where helpful. A positive is that the locals are super nice and helpful! I would have enjoyed to have more options of where to ride with a map marked with good routes. It is easy to get turned around in the mountains and one wrong turn not caught leads to a long day. The highlights: the accommodations were overall great, my favorites included Huntington house (right on the shore, amazing food and cocktails), Coolakay (the best views), and Glendalough (loads of places to explore). What could be better or I would change: Maps! Maps are a must have to navigate the mountains of Wicklow. When you pick up your bike make sure you check everything over yourself. Don’t trust that you picked it up from the cycle shop. I road about 20 miles with a loose front wheel. I assumed that picking a bike up at a shop my wheels would be secured on the bike but they were not, I feel very lucky I didn’t wreck. Longer ride days would have been fun for those of us that prefer a full day of cycling versus just a couple hours. The names of the reservations at each hotel or bed and breakfast were always different we never knew whose name to give. None of our names were listed on the room at The Bridge Tavern and we were told the room hadn’t been paid for, we were unable to reach our local emergency contact, in fact they never called us back. It was extremely frustrating, the fortunate part is that Tripesite emergency number answered the phone and solved the problem. The actual biking in Ireland was a once in a lifetime trip for me! Edited after reply: Thanks for the reply, we didn’t not get gps files so as you said not sure what appended there, but it all worked out ok. When we called the numbers we were given in our cycling packet the first day no one answered. We left message on one, maybe check to see if those numbers are correct, typos happen. The other number said the mailbox was full and messages could not be left. It was a bummer but we were glad Tripsite took care of things. So glad the hotel apologized to y’all it would have been nice to have received that on our end as well since we’re were stressed at the time. Again I want to reiterate overall we loved the trip, accommodations, and our time in Ireland.

Irish Cycling Safaris Limited

Hi Robyn Thank you for your feedback. In addition to the written route notes we also send out gpx files for the route. I wonder if you didn't receive those details? We also didn't receive any phone calls on our emergency phone, which is concerning. I'm sorry to hear throguh this that you were not happy with your e-bike. Its always worth calling or emailing us directly or through Tripsite if anything goes wrong. Also, the hotel has sent a big apologies for accidently trying to charge you for the room and have arranged a refund without any issues. Happy to hear that you at enjoyed Ireland overall.

Fantastic experience: Great place to visit and get all sorts of stuff. I got embroidered baseball hats there done on the spot. There is a great food hall upstairs and all the vendors I came across were polite and helpful even if not purchasing from them. It’s huge so allow at least a whole day to see it all.

Fantastic experience: Just making an inquiry on my most recent contact. I have peviously been on one of their safaris a couple of years ago. Both times I have been impressed and I hope I will be able to travel with them this year.

Fantastic experience: Just completed the Best of The West Ireland self guided bicycling trip 1 week ago with my husband. The accommodations were perfect, the directions were very good, loved the routes they gave. Loved this adventure. We added 1 extra night which was in Westport and they provided a great route for our extra day. Bikes were included and my only suggestion would be to make sure you get more than a 14 gear bike, which is what was provided. On the first day there were hills, many hills. I did it but could use lower gears.. We will book another trip with cycling safaris, they did a great job!!

Irish Cycling Safaris Limited

Hi Kristin. Thanks so much for this lovely feedback. Great you enjoyed your trip and the extra day in Westport. Most of the bikes we provide have 18 to 24 gears. We will follow up on the rental bike choices. Especially the first day is quite hilly. Throughout the week you will sometimes have a choice of taking a more scenic, hillier route or a shorter, flatter road instead. The distance has been kept around 60k per day to give the cyclists time to enjoy the ride, countryside and sites to visit. Thanks again for traveling with us!

Fantastic experience: After 4 cycling tours with these folks since 2013, I feel compelled to tell people what a wonderful set of experiences I have had with them, and what a great bargain their tours are. All of my trips have been self-guided tours in Ireland with and without co-riders and they have been uniformly enjoyable. Ireland has so many beautiful places and there is no better way to see them than from a bicycle saddle in my estimation. And Cycling Safaris makes it so pleasant and effortless with their array of itineraries, fine bikes, modest but spotlessly clean accommodations, and careful attention to all the necessary details. If coasting 20 miles per day before the wine and brie is your thing, they may not be the tour company for you. But if a hearty 30-35 miles of riding through an incredible mix of scenery followed by Guinness and pub grub (okay, there is wine and some fine restaurants available, too) sounds good, you can't do better. As for the bargain, consider that my 4 tours, 800 riding miles, and 30 days of accommodations have cost less $5000. Don't know how they have been able to do this for 30 years but I hope to get back for my 5th tour in another year or so.

Irish Cycling Safaris Limited

Thanks so much, Bob, for your wonderful feedback. This means a lot to us! I am happy that all of your tours left you with beautiful memories. And hopefully we can help to add some more great experiences over the coming years!

Fantastic experience: I got to know Cycling Safaris in 2005 when I was looking for a bike trip in the north of Ireland. They were the only ones who offered (and still offer) such a tour. Since then I have done 13 group tours in Ireland with Cycling Safaris. I think that says a lot about how satisfied I am with them. The range of Irish tours is incomparable. There are offers for the very famous landscapes in the west and southwest like the Ring of Kerry or Connemara, but also for less known fascinating places like Donegal. The organisation of a trip is very good. The guides are locals, very well prepared, always present and support the guest in every respect. The comparatively low travel price includes a very good trekking bike. The bikes are current brand bikes and are top maintained. The guide transports the luggage of the group from accommodation to accommodation and at the same time he is always present with his van at the neuralgic points of the daily stages. He selects meeting points, suggests a place for lunch and organises a joint dinner. The guide also takes care of the atmosphere in the group. If you want, he will also look for the pub where live music will be offered in the evening. Overnight stays are usually in B&Bs or local hotels. In some cases, however, it can also be larger 4-star houses. Apart from breakfast and one dinner of the week, all other meals are not included in the travel package. The daily stages usually vary between 50 and 70 km on roads with little traffic. The level can be challenging, yes there are real climbs in Ireland! Nevertheless, all tours are easy for averagely fit cyclists. And in case of need there is the guide and his van, who will give you a lift if you need it. Cycling Safaris now also offers many tours in other parts of Europe. From friends I also hear a lot of good things about it. Maybe it will be one of these trips - although ... ... Ireland is simply unbeatably beautiful.

Fantastic experience: I have been holidaying with Irish Cycling Safaris, almost every year, since 2000. Occasionally they change the routes and are adding new ones-so there is always something different. Routes vary in "hillyness" but there is always outstanding scenery (well it IS Ireland). Guides are very helpful and friendly and will cater to all your needs. And also tell you of places of interest on route-or even slightly off route. Routes (well it IS Ireland) are usually on quiet country roads. And overnight stays are in friendly B&Bs or local hotels. They are much cheaper than other cycling holidays i have seen, and is great value for what you pay. They supply the bikes too. There are varying degrees of fitness amongst the cyclists, so it's not a race to the finish and you always have time to stop and take in the view, stop for a bite to eat and visit some interesting places. At the start of the day's cycle (and even after dinner the night before) the guide goes through the day's route-tells you of any climbs, points of interest- or any unforseen changes. He/she takes all your gear to the nights stop at the start of the day-having done that they double back and you will see them frequently on the day's cycle-checking that everybody is ok-and will top up your water bottle if need be-and will stop at some points for a chat/check up/answer any questions about route. So the guides help and care for the group is excellent. Like I said, been using this lot for years and will continue to do so for many more.

Fantastic experience: just back from the 3 day Alpe Huez Express 2015 tour. The tour was brilliant..we had great weather,,good food and accommodation,, excellent roads, magnificent routes , out of this world views and we took in many of the iconic Tour de France climbs along the way.The atmosphere in the bunch was fantastic and the whole tour was overseen by Aidan whos professionalism and expertise as well as his brilliant people skills was a key factor that had everyone hailing the tour a big success. This was my 6th Tour abroad with Safaris since 2011 (5 in France and 1 in Spain ) which is a indicator how high i rate this company and looking forward to the 2016 brochure . For anyone who enjoys cycling, no matter at what level you are at, this bunch of lads have a sportive that is tailor made and everything is taken care of , just for you to concentrate on your cycling..Top marks to all the gang in Irish Cycling Safaris..Tommy Sheehy Tralee Co.
