From the moment you make contact with us until you’re home safe, you’ll be working with your own dedicated Camino planner. They look after everything from itinerary planning, hotels, luggage transfers and meals, to airport pick ups. And you have access to a 24/7 hotline while on your holiday.

Fantastic experience: Wry well organised trip. All accommodation was clean and tidy and close or on the Camino with luggage transport well managed. Some hotels, mainly the smaller Pension Hostels were amazing and it would have been even better if they were all like that
Dear Angus, We're so glad you enjoyed your Camino journey and appreciated the well-organized accommodations and luggage transport. We’ll keep your feedback in mind as we continue to refine our trips. Looking forward to planning your next Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: The support and advice I received from Follow the Camino was superlative. From start to finish, my advisor, Macarena, provided an expert level of service and the net result was a Camino I shall never forget. What makes Follow the Camino stand out from the rest?? Their level of dedication to their clients is second to none...Thank You for making my experience such a fantastic time in my life.....
Thank you, John! We’re thrilled to hear that Macarena’s support made your Camino journey unforgettable. Your kind words mean so much to us. We’re dedicated to creating memorable experiences, and we’re so glad we could be part of yours. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino did an excellent job with all of the trip arrangements for my recent Camino. Our group walked from Ponferrada to Santiago de Compostela. Every detail was sorted. Luggage was transported without incident. Accommodations were clean and comfortable and our guide, Fran was the absolute best. I would highly recommend this company for anyone wishing to walk the Camino.
Thank you, Jane! We’re delighted to hear your Camino from Ponferrada to Santiago went smoothly and that Fran made it even more memorable. It’s wonderful knowing you enjoyed the accommodations and seamless luggage transport. We truly appreciate the recommendation!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. Exactly as advertised. Our hotels were booked, bags transferred and packages waiting on time! Every detail they gave us was spot on. Had a very successful Camino, only one day of rain and we knew exactly what to expect. Strongly recommend this outfit. Read all the fine print, especially on the hotel vouchers, we walked too far in some cases, and had to get picked up by car.
Thank you, Jeff! We’re thrilled you had a successful Camino experience with us and appreciated the reliable arrangements. Thanks for the tip on reading the fine print, and we’re glad we could assist with pickups when needed. Wishing you many more wonderful adventures ahead!
Fantastic experience: We booked our Camino through Follow the Camino and it was a wonderful experience. The accommodations they chose for us were all wonderful with great food. All our hosts were very nice and accommodating. Luggage transfer was prompt and smooth.
Thank you, Marian! We’re so pleased to hear you had a wonderful Camino experience and enjoyed the accommodations, food, and smooth luggage transfers. It was our pleasure to make this journey of yours memorable, we look forward to planning many more to come. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: My friend and i both work full time and only had a short time to do a section of the camino. With the help from follow the camino we chose lisbon to santarem. We enjoyed the fatima walk and saw some beautiful churches, villages and countryside. Little industrial out of lisbon so we followed the advice given to take a train out of lisbon. Will return again….
Thank you, Julia! We're glad we could help you make the most of your time on the Camino from Lisbon to Santarém. It sounds like you had a wonderful experience with beautiful sights along the way. We look forward to welcoming you back for another journey!
Fantastic experience: Magnificent camino walk from st Jean de pied de port to Pamplona.Accomadation was fantastic.I couldnt fault anything. This is my 2nd time travelling with Follow The Camino and will use the company again when I do another trip .Thank you for the experience.
Thank you, Caroline! We're thrilled to hear your walk from St. Jean Pied de Port to Pamplona was magnificent and that the accommodations met your expectations. It means so much to us that you chose Follow the Camino for a second trip—it truly reflects our commitment to providing consistent, quality service. Looking forward to helping you plan your next Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: A great organisation to arrange your Camino. They listen and come up with an appropriate itinerary for your walk.,. Hotel accommodation arranged with luggage transfer. A useful App to keep track. We have just completed Porto to Baiona in Spain. Great advice given. This has been our fifth Camino trip and this particular one is very doable at on average 25 km per day.,
Thank you, Eddie! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your Camino from Porto to Baiona and found our app and planning helpful. It's truly an honor to be part of your fifth Camino journey with us—what a milestone! We look forward to supporting you on many more Caminos to come.
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino made our trip special and worry-free. It was very organized and the hotels/inns where we were booked were very charming, especially the farmhouses. Our main planner, Jade, was quite responsive to all our questions. We will likely use again for future caminos. ¡Buen Camino!
Thank you, Marie! We're so glad to hear that your trip was special and worry-free, and that you enjoyed the charming accommodations. We'll pass your kind words on to Jade! We look forward to helping you with future Caminos. ¡Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Our group of three was very pleased with the services provided by Follow the Camino. When we were planning our trip and didn’t know what we didn’t know, Larisa was very prompt in answering all our questions and concerns. The hotels on the comfort plan were fine with only one exception and the great ones made up for that. I reviewed the poor hotel separately. The luggage transfers were flawless, and I would definitely use Follow the Camino again, without hesitation.
Thank you, Lois! We're delighted to hear that you and your group had a great experience, and we'll be sure to pass your kind words along to Larisa. We're glad the comfort plan met your expectations overall, and we appreciate your feedback. Looking forward to helping you plan your next Camino adventure! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: The so called English Camino would've been slightly more comfortable without the biblical rainfall but I guess that I can't blame "Follow the Camino"! We had a wonderful walk overall and their organisation worked 100%. A couple of the hotels were a bit Spartan and the food basic but that didn't spoil things.
Thank you for your feedback, John! We're glad to hear that you had a wonderful walk despite the weather. We appreciate your understanding and are happy that our organization met your expectations. We hope to see you on the Camino again, hopefully with sunnier skies! Buen Camino! ☀️♂️
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino booked and managed our Camino very, very well. The accommodations were great. When available, they booked us in remarkable hotels, and even the small options in small towns were very clean and accommodating. Our luggage transfers went flawlessly.
Thank you so much, Tom & Michele! We're thrilled to hear you had a wonderful Camino experience and enjoyed the accommodations and smooth luggage transfers. We hope to welcome you on another Camino adventure soon! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Great way to plan your Camino walking trip.
Hi John, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we're glad we could help! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Was originally going to book all the hotels and bag transfers myself but due to an opportunity to do a week on the Camino at short notice I booked with Follow the Camino instead. I thought I'd be paying over the top using a tour company but it was great value. Most of the hotels were basic but very clean and the food was good. Bag transfers were all taken care of. While we were out walking one of the days in heavy rain, the hotel we were walking to was flooded and closed unknown to us. When I checked my email at a cafe along the route I had gotten an message from the tour company saying they had booked a new hotel and rerouted our bags, we walked into town to the new hotel and our bags were waiting for us. It was worth money for that incident alone. The hotel in Santiago was very nice and in a great location. Couldn't have asked for more and certainly exceeded my expectations. I'd happily recommend to anyone (and they were quite a bit cheaper than other tour companies I priced)
Dear Mark, Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that booking with us on short notice exceeded your expectations, especially with the quick hotel adjustment during the rain. We're glad the accommodations, food, and bag transfers went smoothly, and that our service added value to your Camino experience. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to helping you with future journeys!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino is a great company! We were so happy we chose them to help with our recent Camino Frances journey. The support and info they provide is great. The hotels they selected were all nice, comfortable, clean and exactly what we would have wanted. They all had great, hot showers! So important after a hard slog in rain/wind/mud. Breakfasts were included and outstanding. Our luggage was always there and waiting when we arrived at the next stop. Instructions and vouchers were all helpful and clear. My only suggestion would be to make it more clear that Galicia is a very rainy region, and rain should be expected. Every day of our 72 mile journey included rain… sometimes torrential. I kept having flashbacks to all the photos I’d seen on the company’s website of smiling, dry people under sunny skies! We went in early October. We saw sun in Madrid, and briefly in Santiago after we arrived. I know you can’t predict the weather, but a little more emphasis on this probability would be helpful. Overall, I thought Follow the Camino was organized, professional and good value. I would definitely use them again.
Hi Paula, Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We're delighted you had a great Camino Frances experience with us and that the accommodations, meals, and luggage transfers all met your expectations. We appreciate your feedback about the weather in Galicia—it's a good reminder for future travelers to be prepared for rain. We're glad you still had a memorable journey and look forward to helping you plan your next Camino!
Fantastic experience: I have just returned from what I am calling my first "baby" Camino from Sarria to Santiago, organized beautifully for my friend and me by Follow the Camino. I cannot wait to do it again one day but this time for the entire pilgrimage from St. Jean Pied de Port all the way to Finisterre. Follow the Camino is well equipped to arrange that next trip for me as well. We chose to stay in Comfort level accommodation with our own bathroom and bedroom and it worked out really well the whole way, with some of the places we stayed being especially memorable. Before we left, Follow the Camino worked with us to make sure we liked the accommodations they found and were extremely amenable to changing anything for any reason if we asked to see alternatives. We included breakfast and dinner in our package and that was nice this first time on the Camino - after a day of walking miles and miles, we knew we wouldn't have to search for a place to eat dinner and we started each day well fueled with very nice breakfasts. We also chose to have our small carry on roller bags transferred from place to place each day and that worked out seamlessly - our bags were always waiting for us when we arrived at our accommodation. Because we had small bags transferred each day, we only had to carry day packs when hiking that weighed in the 8 lb range. Next time, I will try to do the entire pilgrimage carrying my entire pack but we'll see. I am in my mid-60s so might very well do it the same way next time. It's a great way to go! Each person has their own Camino - do not be pressured or shamed into thinking only one way is "the" way. (ie: carrying everything, not having any reservations in advance, going all the way from SJPP to Santiago at a rate of 15-18 miles per day, etc) If there was only one way - the way the pilgrimage was done 1200 or even 200 years ago - none of us would have advanced rain gear or trail shoes or little cafes to stop at along the trail or nice yellow arrows to follow. It is your Camino - and Follow the Camino can help make it happen for you!
Dear Jane, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing Follow the Camino to help plan your journey! We're thrilled that you and your friend had a memorable experience from Sarria to Santiago and that our Comfort level accommodations and services made your Camino special. We love hearing that everything from the meals to the luggage transfer worked seamlessly for you. You're absolutely right—everyone has their own Camino, and we’re so happy to have been a part of yours. Whenever you're ready for the full pilgrimage from St. Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre, we’ll be here to arrange another incredible journey for you! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Excellent advance planning and appropriately responsive to my needs on the trip
Hi Traci, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating! We love your pictures from the camino. Hope to see you soon again!
Fantastic experience: Exceptional service from Follow the Camino. The Choice of hotel surpassed our expectations, especially Bi Terra and 1930 Boutique Hotels including 4 course evening meal. Well done FtC for arranging. The app worked well, no trouble with moving of our luggage between hotels. It is not a well done review - rather it is a delighted and far exceeded our expectations review. Well done FtC, we will definitely use you again and have been recommending you along the way. Thanks
Dear Nick, Thank you so much for your glowing feedback! We’re delighted to hear that your experience with us far exceeded your expectations, especially with the hotels and meals. It's wonderful to know our service and app made your journey smooth. We can’t wait to help plan your next Camino and truly appreciate your recommendations! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed walking the Camino Primitivo, organised with Follow the Camino. All the hotels that I stayed in were clean and comfortable. The luggage transfers worked without any problems. The walking notes provided were helpful although the route was so well signed that I could probably have managed without them!
Dear Ian, Thank you so much for your kind feedback! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your Camino Primitivo experience with us. It's great that the hotels, luggage transfers, and walking notes all met your expectations. We hope to welcome you back on another Camino adventure soon! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Our route was Oia - Santiago di Compostela. The organization was excellent. The hotels we stayed in were excellent. The daily transfer of suitcases from one city to another went without any problems. Contacting the help desk was great. Everything was great. I heartily recommend Follow Camino!!!!
Dear Zana, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you had an excellent experience on your Oia to Santiago journey and that everything, from the hotels to the suitcase transfers, went smoothly. It's fantastic to know our team and help desk could provide great support throughout. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back on another Camino adventure soon! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Have gone on the Camino twice with this company. Everything went without a hitch. Clean hotels good food and secure luggage transfer. Great
Hi Greta, Twice is not enough - we hope to see you back again next year (we have a lot more in store for you). Lets keep the Camino spirit alive, Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: The company was great. They arranged everything. All we did was tell them when and where we wanted to start and how long we wanted to be gone. Nothing went amiss and we even discovered some real gems that we didn’t know about.
Hi Paula, Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your trip went exactly as planned. We pride ourselves in ensuring that we handle everything for our clients from planning to execution, so you can focus on whats more important - walking! We hope to see you back on the Camino soon. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Our itinerary and lodgings that were selected were perfect! The team at Follow the Camino were very helpful and responsive to helping us plan the trip. Their app, web site and materials sent were also very informative and helpful along "the Way".
Dear McCarthy, Thank you for your lovely feedback! We're delighted to hear that the itinerary and lodgings were perfect for your trip, and that you found our team, app, and materials helpful. It was our pleasure to assist you, and we look forward to helping you plan your next Camino adventure!

HI Lynda, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: Walk from Porto to Santiago. A lovely walk. Fantastic scenery and coastline especially in Galicia. Hotel accommodation was very good and the whole thing was very well organised.
HI John, Thank you for your kind words and 5-star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: Excellent organisation and guidance for my walking on the Camino Norte.
Hi Mike, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: We have been on two Caminos using Follow the Camino and both of them went completely smoothly. The staff were very pleasant to deal with and efficiently answered any queries we had before our trips. All the luggage transfers went well and the accommodation was varied but always clean and friendly. We walked the French Way in 2021 from St Jean and then the Portuguese coastal route from Porto in 2024. Both of them were fantastic experiences. We intend to continue walking various routes and will always use Follow The Camino.
Hi Tim, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that both your Camino experiences with us went smoothly and that you enjoyed the French Way and Portuguese Coastal Route. It's fantastic to know that our team could assist you with any queries and that you were pleased with the luggage transfers and accommodations. We look forward to helping you plan your future Camino adventures! Thanks again for choosing Follow The Camino.
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience, we were really well informed and prepared and especially the luggage transfer and hotels were brilliant !
Hi Toni, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating! Good Camino!
Fantastic experience: The Camino De Santiago pilgrimage was one of the most enlightening trips I have ever taken. All the religious thoughts and views truly brought tears to my eyes during the walk right up to the St. James Cathedral which is the most beautiful Cathedral I have ever seen. Opening up conversations with pilgrims across the world was such mind opening experience. I have a dropout condition that requires me to wear a brace all the time while walking , so if I was able to walk ~70 miles with that brace on without any impact so will you.
Dear Michael, Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring experience with us! We're deeply moved to hear how the Camino and its profound connections touched your heart. It's amazing to know that despite your condition, you walked those 70 miles with determination. Truly, the Camino is for all—anyone can walk it, and we’re here to customize your trip to ensure it meets your walking capabilities. We hope to welcome you back soon on another Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time on the Camino, Sarria to Santiago two weeks ago. The accommodations were excellent. The boutique hotel 1930 in Aruza was exceptional. We were lucky with the weather, warm during the day , cooler morning and evening. The scenery is breathtaking. Delicious food and wine. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys walking. We’ll done to Follow The Camino. Thanks guys.
Dear Maria, Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a wonderful time on the Camino from Sarria to Santiago. It’s great to know that you enjoyed the accommodations, especially the boutique hotel in Arzúa—it's one of our favorites too! Thank you for choosing Follow The Camino, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!
Fantastic experience: My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Follow the Camino and Fernanda to customize a Camino itinerary for the Primitivo and Ingles routes this past summer. Fernanda was professional and consistently timely and clear in her communications with us. She was responsive to meeting our requests regarding accommodations and walking distances. Our journey of just over 3 weeks was completed as planned. It was so well organized that we felt relaxed and able to fully enjoy our adventure. We highly recommend Follow the Camino and Fernanda, particularly if you are seeking a customized experience beyond their standardized itineraries. We feel that we received good value for the cost of a worry free adventure.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience with us! We’re delighted to hear that you and your husband had such a positive journey along the Primitivo and Inglés routes. Fernanda will be thrilled to know that her efforts to customize your itinerary helped make your Camino adventure smooth and enjoyable. Should you ever wish to embark on another Camino adventure, we would be more than happy to assist you again. Wishing you both many more exciting travels ahead!
Fantastic experience: We planned our trip with Follow the Camino and everything was executed flawlessly, from the trip planning assistance, pre-trip information, hotel stays and luggage transfers. All of this enabled us to focus on accomplishing our Camino! Buen Camino!
Hi Kim, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating. The one thing we care about most is to take away the hassle of planning so you can focus on the walking. We're glad we could make that happen for you! Buen Camino
Fantastic experience: In 2023 I walked the Camino Francés and the Camino Muxia/Finisterre without help from any company because I wanted flexibility and choice on my pilgrimage. This year, 2024, I decided to enlist the help of "Follow the Camino". My only regret is that I didn't have them at my side in 2023! Follow the Camino did a wonderful job. Accommodation, stage planning, baggage forwarding, support, en-route and personal contact and support were fantastic. All of my future Caminos will be done in cahoots with Follow the Camino. I'm preparing my 2025 Caminio Portuguese them. Thank you Clara!
Hi Wayne, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience on your 2024 pilgrimage with Follow the Camino, and we’re honored to be part of your journey. It's fantastic to know that our team could provide the support and flexibility you were looking for, and that you found our services helpful for your accommodation, stage planning, luggage transfer, and overall support. We’re especially happy that Clara made such a great impression and will make sure to pass along your kind words to her. We're excited to be with you on your next adventure along the Camino Portugués in 2025! Buen Camino and see you on the next one!
Fantastic experience: Excellent support and service. Very good choice of accommodation locations. No issues with the luggage. Always attentive to calls. Highly recommendable.
Hi Irina, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating!
Negative experience: Follow de Camino unprofessional and inadequate customer service support ruined my wonderful Camino de Santiago experience. Just one simple sorry for inconvenience was enough instead of answer full with not true statements.
Dear Vasil, I do read that you had a wonderful experience and as we organised all services for you, despite the poor service you perceive I cannot but take some credit in it. I appreciate you spent some time to write this review but it would have been useful to give more details. After checking with my team on the issues we had on your booking (as we record all calls into a log to improve our service continuously), I have noticed that you only had 1 issue during your trip. 1 of the days you were walking, your luggage was picked up by another transporter by mistake. You called to let us know. As soon as you did, we checked with our transporter and it appeared that another company had taken your bag by mistake. We did all we could to locate it by contacting this company and various hotels. Once it was located it was delivered to you right away later that afternoon. Our records show that in the 3 dealings we had with you, our employees were addressed in a very rude fashion with an overuse of the F word while we were apologising for an error another company made and that we tried to sort out ourselves. So, to summarise, one of your bags was delivered with several hours of delay and I would like to apologies for that. I understand it can be very frustrating. Professionalism/Customer support: We responded to you right away We worked on it right after talking to you and contacted various people to locate it We informed you of the progress of the research and delivery. We spoke to you professionally, calmly and apologised for the inconvenience. We were responding / communicated to you despite being treated disrespectfully until your issue was solved. What could we have done better? We discuss with transporter every year to check how we could improve things. We have discussed bar codes and tracking luggage. None of our taxis along any route is in favour. The Camino is not a parcel delivery service like others. People ad bags without notifying us. People leave the Camino without telling us if/when injured. The cost benefit of too strict handling of luggage would be negative. Although I appreciate and see that it would be reassuring. I too would love to have everything tracked perfectly. But after 17 years working on the Camino, I have also learned to accept some imperfection and odd issues. Please accept that we have no interest in A/ letting this happen and B/ not do anything about it. We have 100s of luggage moving everyday and managing luggage that are lost is way more expensive than things that roll like clockwork which happens in 99.9%. In those cases, we rely on experience, processes, patience and treating people fairly. Our suppliers are a lot more likely to help us if we deal with them in a cordial fashion – even when things go wrong – than being disrespectful. Ourselves the organiser, yourselves – our clients and themselves – our suppliers need each other. One cannot do without the other. So good, long term, respectful interaction is a minimum to guaranty a level of service that shows in the majority of reviews. Apologies again for that incident during your entire trip. I hope my response reassures you that we care about you and your feedback however in agreement with you or not we are.
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino organised a week to remember for us - we walked the Camino Frances last 100km, from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. Highly recommend this tour operator - took care of everything for us, from start to finish.
Hi Cillian, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating. We are glad you enjoyed walking the Camino, hope to see you soon!
Fantastic experience: Excellent throughout my initial enquiry to the end of the walk. Brilliant company. Would 100% use again
Hi Maxine, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating! We truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: This was the perfect way to experience our first Camino. My daughter and I walked the coastal Portuguese way beginning in Oia. All superior hotels with the exception of the next to the last hotel in parada de Franco were exceptional. If you are doing this route I would suggest planning with FTC to walk a little further to Milladoiro Spain and then having a short final walk to Santiago on the final day or making the last day longer. Bottom line skip Parada de Franco. I will not go into detail here since overall I was very pleased with Follow the Camino. The luggage transfers, taxis and airport transfers all went smoothly. Larissa was great with all of my requests advance and last minute. Communication was excellent. Since we booked the superior hotels we thought FTC was very good at managing our expectations as we were aware and accepted that the hotels in this package were a little bit further of a walk, for us it was worth the trade off. My daughter downloaded the FTC maps from our holiday pack which were a life saver when cell service was spotty. Booking through FTC took all of the stress away and allowed us the freedom to immerse ourselves in the joy of this experience! Highly recommend this company!
Dear M Puck, Thank you so much for your glowing review! We're thrilled to hear that you and your daughter had such a wonderful experience on the coastal Portuguese Way. It's fantastic that our superior hotel package and seamless logistics added to your journey. We're glad Larissa could assist with your requests and that the maps were helpful. We appreciate your feedback about Parada de Franco and will take it into consideration. Your recommendation means a lot to us. We hope to see you on another Camino adventure soon! Happy walking!
Positive experience: Our Camino was well organized, no doubt. Macarena was super helpful and patient when answering questions prior to departure. However, there are some things that need to be addressed to ensure prospective pilgrims know what they are getting into. To begin with, the walks were longer, making the trek difficult at times. We definitely walked more than expected. You might want to add an extra day to the six-day tour. By the time we arrived in each town, we were exhausted and didn't have time to visit some of the beautiful places in the area. I would have happily paid for the extra day. Also, the locations at a couple of places were quite inconvenient and added to our walks. Our hotel in Santiago was pretty far from the historic area and we ended up walking close to 20 miles that day. I am very grateful to followthecamino for they made my experience memorable. The bond created among all five of us will be truly unforgettable :) Buen Camino!
Dear Patricia, Thank you for your feedback and kind words about Macarena and our organization. We’re thrilled that you had a memorable experience and that the bond with your fellow pilgrims was a highlight of your journey. We appreciate your constructive suggestions regarding the walk durations and the locations of accommodations. We offer our guests the option to include rest days in the middle of the Camino, allowing them to take it easy and explore at their own pace. Additionally, we are reviewing the convenience of our hotel locations to enhance our guests' overall experience. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Superb and safe organization on my trip that was completely without any mistakes or delays. I had pre-booked hotels and my luggage was moved between different locations on the way to Santiago. Very pleased!
Hi Sanna, Thank you for your glowing review, we truly appreciate it!
Positive experience: The process of booking with Follow the Camino was easy. We did the English Way route. The baggage was moved to each hotel without a problem. However, the information for one of the days was completely incorrect. It was listed as a 23 km walk and wound up being 30km and the hotel was nowhere near the town of Siguera which was described as the end point of that walking leg. The hotel was 7km further than listed (nearly 2 hours longer than the route showed) and was on the other side of a 4 lane highway. It was very dangerous to cross the highway as well. My complaints were largely dismissed. It was a very very disappointing part of an otherwise well-planned walking holiday.
Dear Taj, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear about the issue you encountered on the English Way route. Our team has reached out to you, and are working together to resolve the matter. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to improving our services.
Fantastic experience: The crew at Follow the Camino did a great job of booking our hotels and meals. The planned route was manageable and generally followed the Brierly book. They held a pre-trip briefing which was helpful and sent communications as necessary during the trip. I would definitely recommend them to future pilgrims.
Dear Michael, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you had a positive experience with our services, from the hotel and meal bookings to the planned route. It's great to know that our pre-trip briefing and communications were helpful. Your recommendation means a lot to us. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Walked from Sarria to Santiago. Very well organised holiday and met some wonderful people along the way. Ready to book next adventure
Hi Kay, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating! We look forward to planning your next Camino adventure. Have you considered walking to the end of the world to Finisterre? Its a beautiful one! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: I walked the Camino by myself using Follow the Camino and everything was great. Did the Sarria to Compostela (French Way for one week), with half room and board and had a private single room. My primary motivation was that I lost my husband of 22 years 7 months before, so I was a 65 year old gay man walking in grief. I recommend, to get the most out of this experience, to walk as a pilgrim - choosing to shut down distractions (no email, no listening to music), to make room to choose silence, prayer and meditation, just being in nature (as thousands have done over the centuries), and just focused on walking. It was a great experience. I put a picture of Bill, his birth and death dates and R.I.P. on my backpack and cried whenever I felt the need (which was10-20 times a day). Best thing was no one tried to stop or comfort me. This left me free to just get everything in my heart out. Regarding Follow the Camino, the accommodation was great (I stayed in two hotels, a former watermill cottage, a former farm house and a former rectory - almost all several hundred years old). The food was great to outstanding and as much as I could eat. What makes the Camino different is that while each of us walks alone, there is a sense of the collective all walking together. And the care from everyone I experienced (including the staff where we stayed and from fellow pilgrims) was so kind and loving. It touched me. I found attending the Pilgrim's mass each night at 7pm was helpful to cultivate a spirit of prayer as was going to the English speaking mass at the end (where you get your certificate). They do a great job of helping pilgrims to process their experiences on the Camino. I know many people just do this as a walk and I assume that's great for them, but for me, doing it as a pilgrimage takes it to a whole different level.
Dear B.R. Simon, Thank you so much for sharing your deeply personal and moving experience with us. We are truly honored that you chose to walk the Camino with Follow the Camino, especially during such a significant time in your life. We extend our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your husband. Your choice to walk as a pilgrim, embracing silence, prayer, meditation, and the beauty of nature, embodies the true spirit of the Camino. We are pleased to know that the accommodations, food, and support from our team contributed positively to your experience. Our goal is to ensure that all logistics are seamlessly handled, allowing pilgrims like yourself to focus on the most important aspects of the journey—walking. Thank you for recommending our services and for sharing your story with such honesty and openness. Hope to see you again on the Camino, soon!
Fantastic experience: Everything was flawless.
Hi Holly, Thank you for your 5 star review. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Follow The Camino arranged our way from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, the last 117K of the French Camino. We had an excellent experience. All the hotels were very nice and some were exceptional. Our bags arrived without fail by 2pm though they would only guarantee 5pm. The app was easy to use and provided useful information. Only one hotel was not within a block or two of the Camino. We were concerned about this until we got to the town (A Rúa) and realized how tiny it was - I don't know where we could have stayed. The hotel, O Muino de Pena, was delightful and situated in a beautiful location by a river. The hotel in Melide was also a delight. We could hardly have asked for better.
Dear Ken, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with Follow the Camino! We take great pride in selecting comfortable and unique accommodations for our pilgrims, and we are delighted to know that you found the hotels to be very nice. We are especially pleased that you found our app easy to use and full of useful information. This app was launched based on valuable feedback from our customers, as we believe in continuous improvement to enhance your Camino experience. We look forward to the possibility of assisting you with future journeys.
Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the trip they organised for us. Good value, friendly and responsive.
Hi Simon, Thank you for the 5 star review and your kind words! Thank you for adding we are good value, did you know we offer 'best-value guarantee'. We hope to see you and your friends soon!
Positive experience: We enjoyed our Camino and successfully completed the Portuguese Camino from Tui to Santiago in June 2024. We booked our Camino through Follow The Camino at a price in excess of £1,600 each for 10 days' accommodation and 9 days' walking. We felt we received good support from Jade at Follow The Camino who answered our questions and provided reassurance where needed. We found the Follow The Camino app useful when preparing and also when out on the Camino. The accommodation we'd been booked into was generally of a good standard. All the accommodation owners were ready to receive us and we didn't have to wait for our rooms to be ready, even when we arrived before the check in time. The baggage transfer worked well except in one instance when it wasn't collected until after the 3pm collection window which meant it arrived late. We felt using a company like Follow the Camino was a good way to try out Camino walking. However, it is expensive, we paid over £3,200 for the two of us. Having completed a Camino, it is clear to us this is something we could do easily ourselves and at far less cost. When we were seeking quotes prior to booking, we were quoted a price which was then withdrawn when Follow The Camino said they'd made an error. Maybe things are different in Ireland but in the UK companies have to honour their quotes even if they find they have made a mistake. This shook our confidence in the company. We would encourage Follow The Camino to reconsider their use of two of the accommodations they used. We've given them details of these and posted reviews elsewhere on this site. We were given vouchers for all our accommodations but no one asked for them so we wondered whether they were needed? The baggage transfer services require bags to be left in reception of each accommodation no later than 8am each day. This forced you to get up early each day (even if you didn't want to) meaning you might as well get on the road soon after 8am even if you were walking a short leg and could have had a lie in. This is supposed to be a holiday after all! Often we arrived at our destination, well before check in time but thankfully none of our accommodations asked us to wait for our room, even surly Pepe! When we booked our Camino, the accommodations we would stay in were specified but not their locations. It wasn't made clear that some of these were in rural locations some distance from the Camino route. This required transfers from the Camino and in one instance we had to pay 18 euros of taxi fees to get to and from the accommodation. We weren't made aware of this when booking. It is also worth noting that some of these accommodations were in rural locations with little in the way of facilities (places to eat, shops) or places of interest (apart from the accommodation itself). We think the location of each accommodation and distance from the nearest town on the Camino should be made clear when booking. This wasn't made clear for us until we received the accommodation vouchers and we didn't get these until we'd paid the full balance. Also, in the case of one accommodation, the voucher identified the location which turned out to be the pick up point in the centre of Porrino, not where the accommodation is located. This is very misleading. Overall, we enjoyed our Camino arranged through Follow The Camino. This is an expensive way of doing a Camino and there are areas where Follow The Camino can improve what they offer.
Hi Peter, Thank you for your four-star review and we are glad you enjoyed your Camino Portugues! We are also pleased you found working with Jade on planning your Camino to be so seamless (we have given her this positive feedback), and that the accommodation and transfer services worked well. As for your initial quote – apologies for the incorrect quote the first time around. In Ireland, trading laws allow for a trader to make a mistake on the price of a good/service as long as the correct price is shared before you pay. The trader does not automatically have to sell to you at the initial lower price. I understand that this would have been a surprise at the time of quotation though, so again our apologies. Thank you for your detailed feedback on those other points too, we will take them onboard. With the cost of our package, we aim to price our Camino tours fairly to give travellers access to the most authentic options to stay in along the Camino, as well as reliable transfer services and suitable dining establishments. We hope that you see the value of our services the next time you would like to plan a Camino adventure. We will be more than happy to work with you again on planning the right walking holiday for you!
Fantastic experience: We loved our trip from Porto to Santiago. Accommodation in each town and city was of a good standard. Luggage arrived efficiently. The towns we stayed in were very scenic. Our bikes were very sturdy and stood up well to the difficulties of the cycle route. Also our bike support team were helpful when my derailleur was damaged. We got to a local bike shop who got us back on the road. However we felt that some of the Camino route was unsuitable for bikes. Portugal Camino sections do not differentiate between walkers and cyclist trails. So we had a lot of lifting bikes over rocks etc. It was better on the Galician sections as a diversion for bikes was often indicated. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you 'Follow the Camino'.
Dear Brian, Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the scenic towns, accommodation, and sturdy bikes. We appreciate your feedback on the Camino routes and will work to improve guidance for cyclists. It's great to hear our support team was helpful. We hope to see you again on another adventure! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: We just came back from our 5 day walking trip to Finisterre, an amazing walk, and we would have to say fallow the Camino were brilliant, our accommodation and bag transfers were organised threw them and all was brilliant, our first accommodation in Santiago was a lovely bouquet hotel, small room but nice and a lovely pilgrim breakfast before we started our Camino, our next stop was Negreira and our accommodation was a beautiful little hotel at side of hill, very personal, beautiful room and the food was fabulous, the following night was in As Maroñas and the hotel was nice food was good but the room was very old and bath was broken, next stop was Olveiroa and the accommodation was again very nice just a small room but the owner was lovely and the food was really nice, next we were in Cee, which was a lovely hotel but the food was very disappointing and our last stop in Finisterre was a small hotel on a hill and was average. All in all the trip was amazing and we can’t wait to organise our next one
Dear Sharon, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had an amazing time walking to Finisterre and that our services met your expectations. It's great to know that you enjoyed the accommodations and food, especially in Santiago, Negreira, and Olveiroa. We appreciate your feedback on the hotel in As Maroñas and the food in Cee, and we'll work on these areas for future trips. We're excited to help you plan your next Camino adventure. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Our Camino experience was hugely enjoyable, made easy by the well organised itinerary and accommodation/ baggage management by the very helpful and professional team at Follow the Camino.
Hi David, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star review. We're delighted to learn you enjoyed our services. Please keep us in mind for your next walking adventure!
Fantastic experience: I can 100% recommend Follow The Camino if you are looking to use a company to book your Camino trip. They were very communicative in the preparation and booking stage, and were able to be quite flexible and insightful into what would work best for our experience. On the Camino itself, the materials they provided were all we needed and we didn't need to contact them for any issues or more information. Our bag transfers were done completely smoothly and were waiting for us at each destination before we arrived. The accommodation booked was excellent - clean, friendly, very comfortable and convenient. I am already thinking of my next time, and will absolutely use Follow the Camino again!
Dear Tammy, Thank you so much for your glowing recommendation! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic experience with us. Dear Daniela, Thank you for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience on your Camino journey with us. Your recommendation means a lot to us! If you ever plan another Camino adventure, we'd be delighted to assist you again.
Positive experience: Ride was absolutely beautiful. The bikes were great! Went for the upgrade on a few of the accommodations and it was def worth it! Customer service w Follow the Camino was great. Only critique I would give is to span the last 3 days of the 5 day trip into 4 days. Three 40+ miles/day w around 3,000’ climb was a lot for me personally. Dodging Camiño walkers is kind of a bummer too. All in all great trip!
Dear Kathy, Thank you for your feedback! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful ride and found the bikes and upgraded accommodations worthwhile. We appreciate your comments about the itinerary and will take them into consideration for future trips. We're glad you had a great overall experience, and we're here to assist you with any future adventures!
Fantastic experience: Overall we had an absolute blast completing the Portuguese Camiño on bikes. We loved the challenge, experiencing different environments and seeing parts of the country off the main tourist track. The communication and organisation was brilliant and the hotels suited our needs perfectly.
Dear Rochelle, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a wonderful review. The Camino Portugues is a beautiful route, and the Camino on cycle is a whole different adventure altogether - we're glad you loved the challenge!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino made my French Camino Trail experience incredible! They organized my trip perfectly, from accommodations to seamless luggage transfers. Their budget package was just right for my needs. Exceptional customer support, always ready to help over the phone. Highly recommend for a worry-free adventure!
Dear Garo, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your French Camino Trail experience with Follow the Camino. We're glad our customer support met your expectations, and we pride ourselves on offering a 24/7 hotline for emergency assistance to ensure worry-free travels. We look forward to helping you with your next adventure! Lets start planning your next adventure, Camino Portugues Coastal maybe?
Fantastic experience: Thank you Follow the Camino for a smooth and seamless Camino experience from the beginning to the end. Everything went totally smoothly, the hotels were expecting us and welcomed us with open arms, our luggage was always delivered on time, the material you shared with us was useful and comprehensive, the App was great and the fact that we did not have to be in contact with you not even once during the week is tantamount to your excellent organization. One of the hotels mentioned to me in passing that Follow the Camino is their favorite tour provider and now I understand why. I would definitely recommend using the services of FTC to anyone looking for a hassle free and relaxing Camino. Thank you!!
Dear Mark, Thank you for your fantastic review! We're delighted to hear that your Camino experience was smooth and seamless from start to finish. It's great to know our hotels, luggage service, materials, and App met your expectations. Your kind words about our organization and recommendation mean a lot to us. We look forward to assisting you on future adventures!
Fantastic experience: "Follow the Camino" organised our walk from Tui to Santiago. They were easy to contact during planning and promptly answered any questions we had. They moved our luggage at each stage and booked our accommodation without any issues. The hotels were of good quality. They also booked additional nights and transport as required. This removed any organisational and logistical issues and enabled us to enjoy our time walking. Overall, I recommend this organisation for going on a Camino and would use them again in the future.
Dear Muz, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your walk from Tui to Santiago and that our services met your needs. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to assisting you with future Camino adventures!
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my experience with @Follow the Camino! I had a lot of information on my route, my bag arrived every day before I did. The hotel rooms were all lovely! A few comments to help improve the experience: Some more information could be provided for the older solo female traveller on reaching the first accommodation. Not everyone uses taxis for journeys of over 30 minutes! I realised I'd need to get the bus to Vigo but couldnt find any other info online about transport to Oia. Providing the names of local bus companies and timetables would have helped and reduced my stress levels. I did manage to get there but it was a long day in Vigo bus station! The hotel info needs to be updated too.Hotel A Raina do not grow or produce their own food any more ( too busy serving guests!) No one seemed ' hard of hearing' either! All staff at all hotels were very friendly and helpful. My favourite rooms were at Hotel Bahia Baiona, Balneario Acuña, Caldas de Reis and Room 3 at Pombal Rooms, Santiago. Thanks for all your help!
Dear Bernie, Thank you for your detailed feedback and kind words! We're delighted you enjoyed your experience with Follow the Camino and appreciated our accommodations and luggage service. We value your suggestions and will work on providing more detailed information for solo travelers, especially regarding local transport options. Your favorite rooms have been noted for future reference. Thanks again for your helpful feedback, and we look forward to assisting you on your next Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant trip, superbly organised by the company. All the hotels were great, all quite different, but all well equipped for our needs. The evening meal that was included was a little lacking at some places, but the convenience of not having to go out and find food was welcome. All in all a fantastic experience, I would definitely use this company again.
Dear Mell, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it! We're delighted to learn that our services have made you a loyal customer. We at Follow the Camino, strive hard to keep our customer's need in the centre of all our services. Looking forward to planning your next Camino adventure.
Fantastic experience: Excellent trip organized by FTC! The hotels and casa rurales were all different in style and provided clean and comfortable accommodation, the luggage transfer service was reliable and timely, and the maps/support materials were helpful. Overall, a great trip for a reasonable price!
Hi Jayne, Thank you for specially pointing out the main reasons that make the Follow the Camino - your Top Camino Provider. We believe in putting the customer first in all things, be it price, comfort or reliability. Thank you for appreciating that! We look forward to planning your next Camino! With love, Follow the Camino team
Fantastic experience: Follow the camino Great company The communication was good all round and Clara provided all the information needed. I agreed to join my sister to walk the final 100 km of the Santiago de Compostela from Tui to Santiago as part of her celebrate 60th birthday celebrate. As it turned out, on the first day we discovered it was 116 km, and by the end of the week, we had walked a total of 129 km. The company provided all the required information. The vouchers for the hotels, where, when and who to contact. The route map which I printed off. I had to do this as the pdf was not accessible on our phones. I used it a lot on the first day but to be honest I didn’t need it as it was well sign posted. I did however read then notes every night to make sure that things pointed out were not missed. The notes had great info about the cafes and restaurant stops along the way. We used the map on the app which was very useful. It was an incredible week. While it wasn’t always easy, it was definitely achievable. I think that everyone can do this given a little patience, training snd learning focussing in what’s important to you. Everyone has their own reasons for undertaking a long walk—whether it’s for religious or spiritual reasons, to seek forgiveness, or to repent for past wrongs. Or just two sisters enjoying a celebration. You don’t have to decide why you are doing it straight away. I think it comes to you as part of the journey. One thing we did noticed was how silent it become towards the end as people suddenly become in awe of the cathedral And the sight of Santiago. The end of a journey for many deep in thought. For us was rather mixed as it had been raining all day but at one point when it stopped and the sun was shining we could see Santiago in mist and rain. It felt a bit magical. We took our time and did things our way, stopping to admire the flora, fauna, sculptures, and unique gardens along the way. We weren’t just focused on putting one foot in front of the other; we wanted to fully experience the beauty of the Galician countryside. I think this is so important. So many walkers miss things along the route. Of course, there were moments when we felt exhausted, and fatigue hit us earlier and earlier each day as the week went on. Our food and accommodation experience was very mixed. I would say to follow the camino that not all the accommodation is of equal value/equal comfort etc The dinners that are provided as part of the deal … now this was very hard for us as we are vegetarian and somehow most of the pilgrims meals had very very limited veggie options on the menu. The waiters and waitress were alway reluctant to deviate from the menu. We found ourselves having to speak to the chef/cook to ensure we good substantial food. Don’t get me wrong some were amazing but it just wasn’t consistent. A big positive was that we were fortunate enough to avoid illness and blisters, proving that it’s entirely possible to complete such a journey. I would say stick to your routine, your foot management/regime(if that a thing) listen to all the advice of course but make a conscious decision to change something in your routine because it could have consequences. The best part was the people we met during our adventure. Everyone was so lovely, kind, engaging and very supportive. Finishing in Santiago, surrounded by stunning UNESCO-listed architecture and steeped in the history of pilgrims, was the perfect end to our journey.
Dear Chan, Thank you so much for sharing your experiences on the Camino de Santiago! It sounds like your journey from Tui to Santiago was both challenging and deeply rewarding. Walking 129 km, especially to celebrate such a special occasion as your sister's 60th birthday, is truly commendable. I'm glad to hear that the communication and information provided by the company were helpful, particularly the detailed route maps and notes that enriched your understanding of the landmarks and stops along the way. Your approach to taking your time and appreciating the natural beauty and cultural points of interest along the Camino exemplifies the spirit of such a pilgrimage. It’s about more than reaching the destination; it’s about the moments of reflection, connection with nature, and the personal discoveries made along the way. Thank you for pointing out the need for more vegetarian food options on the Camino. We are currently in the process of implementing sustainable practices, which will help in the adoption of vegetarian food options along the Camino. This initiative is part of our commitment to enhancing the experience for all pilgrims and catering to a variety of dietary preferences. Your feedback is essential in guiding these improvements. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we look forward to providing a more accommodating journey for future walkers.
Fantastic experience: Super smooth experience, awesome support, and amazing journey at the Camino. Highly recommended!!!
Dear A Ursua, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino was a very valuable part of my Camino
Hi Tiassa, Thank you for your review, we're glad we could add value to your special journey.
Fantastic experience: Cannot fault the level of service from this company. Totally supportive, easy to communicate with and first class provision of accommodation
Hi Sharon, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: Booking was an ease. Love the app to explore all the downloads and details. The luggage transfer was so nice - went off without a hitch. Quality of places booked was just as expected or better. My family and I cannot wait to book another tour - perhaps the Portuguese Way ;) - this was a life changing experience, I couldn't be happier.
Hi Sina, Thank you for your kind words. The Portugues way is an absolute treat - we can't wait to get started on the planning!
Fantastic experience: Great people, good app, bags arrived as promised and great accomodations. I booked all hotels on my two Caminos on the same trip.
Hi John, Thank you for your 5 star rating. We are delighted to learn all the booked services were seamless throughout your Camino journey.
Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience thanks in large measure to Follow the Camino!! All the logistics went well and the accommodations were very nice. I highly recommend Follow the Camino! Dave R
Dear David, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating! We look forward to planning your next Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: Everyone is very friendly and they really take care of participants. I did it with a group but I would feel very comfortable doing it on my own with them too.
Hi Kristina, thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us! We hope to see you again :)
Positive experience: A great 1st experience with the company. We were led on a lovely walk around Howth head. The staff kept the group together at multiple points and were even willing to wait for myself and a friend at one point. If you wish to start on the camino, their walks are seem to me to be a good place to start.
Hi David! Thank you for sharing your feedback and positive experience with us. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your time, and we hope to see you on our future walks. Good luck and ‘Buen Camino’ on your upcoming journey! ;)
Fantastic experience: Such an incredible experience I had today with you guys!! It reminded me the amazing days I had doing the camino last time I did. And it's a great training for whoever would like to do way to santiago in the future.
Hi Daniel! Thank you for sharing your feedback and positive experience with us! Your cycling trip sounded amazing, and it would definitely be worth considering a different route next time ;)
Fantastic experience: On 21 March, my wife and I finished the final 117 kilometre section of the Camino Frances on a trek organised by Follow the Camino. The organisation was faultless; the arranged accommodation of high standard and the luggage transfers between staying places worked smoothly. During the pre trek arrangements, communication was smoothly and prompt. The final, and unexpected, bonus was Follow the Camino’s map app - one that showed all our accommodation bookings and enabled us to see, in real time, where we were on the Camino and how far to go to our next overnight stay. Coupled with their route book, the trip (although demanding even at our slower pace) was a problem free delight. I highly recommend Follow the Camino to others contemplating undertaking a trek of their own.
Dear Tim, We are absolutely thrilled to hear about your positive and fulfilling experience with Follow the Camino on the final stretch of the Camino Francés. It brings us immense joy to know that the effort we put into organising your trek has contributed to such a memorable journey for you and your wife. Your recommendation means the world to us and to others contemplating their own Camino trek. It is our passion to assist our trekkers in experiencing the Camino in the most enjoyable and meaningful way possible. Thank you for choosing Follow the Camino, and for taking the time to share your experience. We look forward to the opportunity of assisting you on another trek in the future. Should you or your friends need any advice or assistance planning your next adventure, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Warmest regards, The Follow the Camino Team
Fantastic experience: I booked a comfort package from Follow The Camino for the France Way. The accommodations were top notched in most of the locations. There were a few areas in the France Way that really have no excellent places but they furnished the best place available. During the process they changed a few accommodations due to customer feedback on them. The meals were very good. The directions and notes sent were very helpful. Luggage was waiting for us at every location. Just an overall confident feeling that all the particulars were taken care of and we could just enjoy our pilgrimage.
Hi Rick, Thank you so much for your kind words and 5 star rating. We truly appreciate it. Looking forward to planning your next Camino adventure! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience with Follow the Camino! Can’t wait to book more Camino trips with them-everything was perfect!
Dear Larry, Thank you for your kind words and 5 star rating, we truly appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino is THE WAY TO GO if you're pre-planning your Camino adventure. Everything went exactly as planned and it was a beautiful, rewarding journey for my family and I. Our accomadations were all wonderful and the baggage transfer was seamless. All of the directions and tips we were given were so helpful and Follow the Camino truly made our journey a perfect one. Thank you SO much to Jade for EVERYTHING!
Dear Jon, Thank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback we truly appreciate it! At Follow the Camino, we strive hard to ensure your journey is as seamless as possible, and we are delighted to learn that we were able to deliver on our promise. We look forward to serving you on your next Camino adventure!
Fantastic experience: Follow the Camino is an exceptional company if you plan to walk el Camino de Santiago. My son and daughter (both adults) and I walked the Portugese Coastal Route w/ Spiritual Variant this October. Jade Buchaudon booked our accommodations and luggage transfers for each of the 13 days. She was truly a godsend. Her pacing of our route from one town to the next was super smart and thoughtful. We didn't go with public hostel which you can't book ahead 'cuz we needed 3 beds every night and weren't sure if some of the smaller towns could provide that as we were nearing the end of the season. We stayed in a different hotel every night and each accommodation she chose was great, just what we needed. She really honed in on our vibe. The Coastal Route elevations are no joke and Jade knew exactly how to plot it out so we walked varied distances each day which our bodies needed to recover, even if it was 2-3 kilometers less that day. The Follow the Camino website has ALL the information you'll need to prepare for your Camino and sends maps and 'special notes' guidance, and for us, a guidebook since we veered off to the Espiritual Variante, and credenciales for when we arrived at our first accommodation. But once you're on the Camino you mostly follow the yellow arrows and subtle signposts to find your way on the Camino. It's a bit like the scavenger hunt of a lifetime. All our communication with Jade was done via email but can be done over the phone as well, apparently. We had a glorious Camino experience. It was moving and magical and very challenging and we'd do it all again. And definitely work with Jade. Buon Camino!
Dear Shanna, Thank you so much for your positive words and kind feedback! We truly appreciate it! Jade would be delighted to learn that her meticulous planning left very little room for problems! We call our planners "Camino Experts' for a reason! They have all the knowledge possible to customise your trip based on your needs and requirements, we are delighted to learn she was able to surpass your expectations! Thats what we at Follow the Camino strive for!! We look forward to serving you on your next Camino adventure. Buen Camino!
Negative experience: We had a very disappointing bike trip with them. The correct bikes were not delivered. They took no responsibility and ask us to contact their subcontractor independently stating it's not their problem. We could not get any help for 3 days. The right bikes arrived later than what was promised. They did not communicate with us at all . The trail provided was for hiking and not suitable for mountain bikes we had. Luckily, we met some other travellers after 3 days who gave us the right trail! What a difference. When we had the right trail map, mountain bikes are the wrong choice for such long demending rides of 65-70k a day on gravel and paved roads. Hotels are more than basic ( however clean) breakfasts were fine. Honestly, if you are planning to cycle the Camino this is not the right option for you. I did not walk with them so cant comment on the experience for hiking.
Hello Tomer, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are very sorry and we do understand that your experience was not the greatest. Our supplier made a mistake delivering the bikes and even thought we tried to fix your problem quickly, sometimes things are more complicated than we think they are. Of course we only want our clients to enjoy the camino, but sometimes human mistakes are unfortunately made. We have a large amount of emails and calls exchanged with you, we cared about your problem then and we still do, that is why we are still sorting your issue with the luggage someone in the group left behind. Apart from that, we have taken action and identified areas in our booking process to minimise the possibility that honest mistakes are made again. Our goal was to solve your issue as fast as we could, that is why at some point we thought that the fastest way to fix it was if the bike supplier could communicate directly with you, so applogies if you understood with this, that we were trying to avoid any responsibility. Regarding the accommodations we booked exactly what it was quoted, a comfort package, if you wanted to upgrade some nights you could have also requested it. The cycling notes were available in the customer area for you to read since the moment that the the final payment were made and we sent you a GPX file too. Once again we apologise for the inconvenience and hope that despite the issue you could still have a good memory of the trip.
Positive experience: Carmen from Follow the Camino was brilliant in advice and responses to emails. She is an asset to the Company. However, I do feel the reservation team need to re-visit some sites they are booking for their clients, in particular Albergue Estrella del Camino. The experience was very distressful, a horrid man who didn’t offer anything advertised. After this my Camino friends would always come along to check out the next Albergue with me before I checked in. I sent an email to FTC about this and as always Carmen responded straight away to inform me and the reservation team of this. I would like to have given 5 stars but for this incident and the fact the marketing team never responded to my email regarding the pre Camino online meeting I am giving 3.
Hi Heather, Thank you very much for your review and your kind words about our team and colleague, Carmen; they are greatly appreciated. We are delighted that your overall experience was positive, despite the issue with the Albergue. We understand that after a hike, what you truly desire is to relax, wash your clothes, and have a good breakfast the next morning. We always strive to provide the best accommodation possible for our clients, but sadly, some things are beyond our control, such as the staff's mood and their willingness to assist pilgrims. Nonetheless, we truly appreciate feedback like yours as it offers invaluable insight. It's impossible for us to stay in all the accommodations we work with, not just in Spain but in numerous other countries (although that would be wonderful!). Thank you once again, Heather. If you ever need us in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful time on my first Camino, really the trip of a lifetime, hard to put into words. From answering all my questions, a useful trip orientation and solid training and prep guides, Follow the Camino provided help and info throughout the planning. I felt way more prepared than I normally do for travel and at ease upon embarking, which was a really nice feeling. The hotels were all super nice and very good value and the luggage transfer was as smooth as can be. They also have a walking app which really came in handy at a few tricky junctures. For those planning their first or who want a different experience, I highly recommend!
Dear Brian, We're thrilled to hear you had a fantastic first Camino experience with us! We're dedicated to providing valuable support, top-notch accommodations, and convenient services like luggage transfer and our walking app. Thank you for recommending Follow the Camino for a memorable journey!
Fantastic experience: Just returned from completing Sarria to Santiago. All the arrangements and the hotel accommodation was absolutely brilliant. Cannot fault Follow the Camino
Hi Karen, Thank you for 5 star review, we truly appreciate it!
Negative experience: I met a girl booking with ‚Follow the Camino‘ and I am feeling so bad that companies like this take so much money from people to put them into so many trashy hotels. Some days i stayed in so much better Albuerges for 12-20 EUR a Night and she had to stay in really bad ones, although paying almost 200 a day and not helping her out …. that is not ok!
Negative experience: Our first Camino, and how naive we have been. This company takes care of all aspects or so we thought but there are flaws particularly with the accommodation they book on your behalf. One would assume they would research, and even visit, accommodation they are sending their customers too but this cannot be the case. Night one, in a town, very basic with a garden plastic chair in the room for the seat but it was clean and it was central. Night two, no facilities, off the beaten track, no reception, no bar, no lounge, broken furniture and the most miserable owner imaginable who also doesn’t speak a word of English. Night three, a very long day, six hours walking in intense heat to discover our accommodation was a further hour out of town. Kind people, no choice of food, and beds which were as comfortable as a street bench. Night four, central location which was helpful after an 8 hour walk, nice people but very noisy accommodation . Night 5, absolutely disgusting, filthy place, beyond basic. Along with the majority of the accommodation being poor or remote the app which Caminos are expected to use to navigate is unrealistic. By battery life isn’t going to work for 8 hours in intense heat and the constant logging out and no updates on distances to destination is unhelpful. Plus no signal in some locations. Kirsty has been super responsive but someone from the business should get on a plane and check out where they are sending customers because I’m sure they wouldn’t stay in some of the places we have which we could have booked directly for far less. Paying the premium is on the assumption someone has done some research.
Dear Nadine, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We would like to highlight that we have been partnering with various accommodations along this lesser-traveled route for years and have received consistent positive feedback. This is why they remained in our listings. However, we recognise that standards and experiences can change. In response to your feedback, we have taken several corrective measures. Firstly, we have reviewed and made necessary adjustments to our listings. Secondly, and most importantly, we have implemented an additional layer of auditing for our accommodations. This new process will involve more frequent checks and a rigorous vetting system to ensure the quality and standards meet the expectations of our pilgrims. We genuinely appreciate your feedback. While we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we're committed to preventing similar issues in the future.
Fantastic experience: Loved the experience, highly recommend this company for your Camino trip
Hi Inara, Thank you for your positive review and kind words. We look forward to serving you on your next Camino adventure! Buen Camino
Fantastic experience: Excellent service--good to outstanding choice of lodgings, efficient transportation of luggage, and friendly accommodation to changes in plan.
Hi Richard, Thank you for your 5 star review and kind words, we truly appreciate it! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Had a super walk with Umberto yesterday. Would love to go on more of these
Hi George, Thank you for your 5 star review. We're glad to know you enjoyed the Camino training walk, this was the last one for the year tho - see you next year! Buen Camino!
Positive experience: This was my first Camino. I chose the 280km, 13 night, Portuguese Coastal route which started in Porto. I was anticipating an “adventure” and fully expected things not to work out exactly how I imagined, so when things went wrong it was just a simple matter of adapting and figuring things out. The FTC experience had many positive aspects. Most of the accommodations were very comfortable and conveniently located on or near the Camiño. The luggage transfer was flawless. The FTC app was very helpful in identifying where you were at any given time relative to your route and location of your accommodation. I’ll likely use FTC again but first I’d like to see some simple improvements. The walking notes provided were impractical and completely useless. FTC should integrate some of the key points of the walking notes into the app. The app was the only reliable data source to ensure you’re on the right path and making your way efficiently to your accommodation. The last thing you want at the end of a tiring day is to not be able to find where you’re staying and the walking notes were 100% no help. Thank you Google Maps for saving me a few times! Logging into the app, which I did several times each day, shouldn’t require me to fully enter my username and password as if I’ve never logged in before. At a minimum, the username should be automatically saved and it would be nice if you’d integrate biometric recognition to streamline the login process. A few of the accommodations were several kilometers off of the Camino. Again, we’re walking enough as it is, no need to make us walk further. I understand there’s probably a trade-off in some towns, but this needs to be addressed. Same thing with contracting with accommodations that don’t have air conditioning. If needed, I will gladly pay extra for accommodations with operable air conditioning. There’s absolutely nothing worse than trying to sleep after a tiring day when there’s no A/C in the building or if there is, it just doesn’t work very well. There were 4 or 5 nights where the A/C was an issue. One night, I even slept outside by the pool on a chaise lounge since my room was extremely warm, no A/C, not even a fan.
Dear Jay Bowker, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and insights on your recent Camino experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you embarked on your first Camino adventure along the Portuguese Coastal route starting in Porto, and we truly appreciate your perspective on the journey. We're thrilled to learn that you found many aspects of your trip with us to be positive, including the comfort and convenience of most accommodations and the seamless luggage transfer service. Your appreciation for the FTC app as a valuable tool for navigation and accommodation tracking is also noted and encouraging. Your feedback regarding the walking notes and login process for the app is invaluable to us. We are actively working on enhancing the app to integrate essential information from the walking notes, ensuring that it becomes an even more reliable and comprehensive resource for all our travelers. Additionally, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the login process, and we are actively exploring ways to streamline it, including the possibility of integrating biometric recognition for a more efficient experience. Thank you for choosing FTC for your Camino journey, and please feel free to reach out if you have any further comments or suggestions. We value your input and are committed to making your future adventures even more enjoyable. Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: Another absolutely brilliant trip with follow the camino, probably my 6th or 7th now. So well organised, great hotels, bag transfer smooth and efficient, bike perfect....already thinking about the next one
Hi Niall, We're so delighted to learn that your 7th trip with us was yet another success! We work hard to ensure that every Camino trip is a special one! We look forward to serving you on your next Camino adventure. Buen Camino!
Positive experience: Lodging was spartan and always very clean. Locations were good. Details provided before the trip were comprehensive. Walking instructions were not great - make sure you have internet access and can use GPS on your phone. Luggage transfer was smooth and easy.
Hi Maggie, Thank you so much for your positive review and kind words, we truly appreciate it. Regarding the walking notes, we have recently launched the Follow the Camino app. Its our navigation app to help with the walking directions. Kind regards,
Positive experience: We, a party of three, are just back from our trip over Pyrenees to Pamplona. All went to plan in terms of luggage pick uip et and we had very good accommodation in Pamplona and Roncesvalles. Our only criticism re the accommodation in Orisson is that it was not really in Orisson but almost 3km from it and closer to St Jean. I would recommend that the distance be clearly stated in the itinerary. .in Zubiri was adequate but the hotel is very close to the road
Hi Margaret, Thank you for your feedback and kind words. We are glad to know that everything went according to plan and you had an overall positive experience on the Camino. Regarding the accommodation in Orisson - we try to give the best possible accommodation wherever possible, and while some may be off path, it is only because the others were not ideal. We hope you understand! We will ensure that we mention the distances more clearly on the walking notes! Kind regards
Positive experience: I had great expectations of using Follow the Camino. When you were good (93%) it was good/excellent, but when things went wrong it was horrible (7%). I really wanted to give you a 5 Star review (which most were), but that would be misleading – 3.5 Star. I used FTC to book the Le Puy Camino in France from Le Puy en velay to Saint Jean pied de port (42 days duration). I recognised that this is a Camino less walked and wanted to walk stress free by using a specialist travel agency. Over 42 days you expect some things to go wrong and I am not concerned about minor issues: · Missing a meal · Changes in accommodation due to a storm which affected the walk for a week · Change in accommodation due to a dodgy owner There were two accommodations that were terrible (you know about these): · Figeac – Gite Le Coquelicot. This was not a hotel, but a hostel. Only one room (across the road, had private facilities) and my friends had to stay in the hostel part. You had to ask for sheets/blankets, as I think they expected you had a sleeping bag. In addition, we had a rest day there, so two nights! · Lougbieng - Arthez en bearn. Not the accommodation (basic), but the location. It was a Sunday, raining, the place was 10kms off the route. When I asked how to get there, I was told I could organise a taxi. Small village, Sunday, raining = no chance. So I had to use Google Maps to get there, I walked along roads that didn’t exist and finally walked over a few fields to get to a road I could see in the distance. Surprisingly no taxi booked, when the next few days you had organised taxis on the Camino (which worked). It was a miserable long wet walk, which I can’t forget. Other comments: · Emergency Hotline – response was good. The problems were resolved, but some should not have occurred. · Accommodation Capacity – I was told it was a busy time, but often the hotel had free rooms. In fact, I ate on my own for 7 nights, that is I was the only person there. In one hotel I was let in and had the run of the 40 room hotel to myself. Eating on your own, when there are more staff than eaters (only me) was a lonely experience. · Taxis – pre-booked Taxis worked well. · Standard – there were a variety of hotels. A few were ordinary, others were excellent and I have great memories of them. · Food – pre-booked meals were all good to excellent. Some offered a choice, others the menu of the day. I had two friends book with FTC for part of my walk. I was a bit embarrassed about the accommodation in Figeac. They said you get what you pay for and Macs was more expensive but better. Would I use you again, I’m unsure?
Hi Tony, Firstly, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your Camino experience booked through Follow the Camino. Reading your comments, both positive and negative, provides us with invaluable insights that we can use to improve our services. We deeply regret that several aspects of your trip did not meet your expectations, and more importantly, did not align with the high standards we aim to provide to all our clients. It’s evident that despite the majority of your journey being positive, the negative experiences left a significant impact on your overall perception of our services. Regarding the mishaps along the route: We firmly stand by our processes and the meticulous planning undertaken by our team. Every reservation we made with the hotels was conducted professionally, in good faith, and with the expectation of them delivering the services promised. It's unexpected that these establishments did not uphold their end of the bargain, particularly since our primary aim has always been ensuring our clients have a seamless experience. Given that this route is less frequented by us, there might have been some unknown variables, but we are committed to investigating and rectifying this to ensure it's not a concern for future travelers. As a gesture of goodwill and in hopes of another opportunity to better serve you, we'd like to offer you a voucher. We hope this can be a step towards making amends and possibly providing you with a truly outstanding Camino experience in the future. Tony, your patience, understanding, and open communication have been remarkable throughout this ordeal. We commit to discussing the issues you’ve highlighted in-depth with our team to prevent such mishaps in the future.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed the walk from Donabate to Portmarnock. The leaders were very attentive and friendly. Would recommend it to everyone. Jennifer (60 plus)
Hi Jennifer, We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the training walk, it’s a great way to prepare for your Camino! We have another one coming up in September - it’s also our final one for the year! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: This is the sixth year I've used Follow The Camino to help me with my Camino planning. Why? Because they make everything so easy to organize and are there to support you during the planning and in the unlikely event that things go awry. No complaints, which is why I keep coming back! And walking the caminos makes for great holiday!
Hi Phil, Thank you for your kind words and positive feedback. We are so glad to know that this was your 6th year travelling with us and we consistently kept up to your expectations. For Camino experiences like yours, we at Follow the Camino strive hard everyday to curate the best possible tours! See you again next year! Buen Camino!
Positive experience: How could you go wrong with El Camino? The experience overshadows any inconveniences. The support leading up to the Camino was exceptional. Very attentive and helpful. They were very patient and understanding. Positive throughout. Baggage transfers and accommodations were arranged as advertised. Good positive experiences with the exception of one grouchy front desk, maybe she was having a bad day. This was a great experinece and I would recommend Follow El Camino without hesitation. My only feedback to the company would be consistency with the accommodations. Some were luxurious and super enjoyable, it made you feel pampered after a long day of walking, others were spartan. Nonetheless, they were all clean, comfortable and safe. If I could give them 4.5 I would. Looking forward to our next Camino. GOOD JOB!
Hi Souhail, Thank you so much for your kind words and your positive feedback. At Follow the Camino, we strive hard everyday to ensure our clients have a seamless Camino experience, we are glad we could successfully deliver that to you. Regarding the accommodations, please note we deal with more than 1000 suppliers, some of which fall in smaller towns and villages. We try to provide the best in every location, but some are out of our hands. We look forward to serving you on your next Camino adventure! Buen Camino!
Negative experience: We were told that we would get picked up from the airport. That never happened. We were told that upon our arrival to the hotel, someone would explain everything to us (where to go to start the Camino, what to look for, the directions, etc.), that never happened either. We were told there was a 24/7 assistance. That was fictive also; our email from the first day of our walk has not been yet replied to. We are on our last day of walk today. I have to say though, that asking the hotel receptionists and the people on the way (who sometimes gave us the wrong information) made the walk more adventurous. Basically, if you book with this company, you are all on your own, even if you don’t speak a word of the language. Thank God, we did.
Dear N. Movallali, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent journey with Follow the Camino. As per our records, we did not have any arrangements for an airport pick-up for you due to the nature of your booking. We did provide a map and instructions to navigate from the bus station to your hotel. On the topic of our 24/7 assistance, this service is offered via phone to ensure immediate response to any emergencies or immediate concerns. We understand how essential quick communication is, especially during an adventure like the Camino. However, the assistance does not cover response through emails or WhatsApp, particularly during weekends. As for the arrival briefing, we provide a comprehensive guide and walking notes to our customers instead of an on-site person. This is meant to offer flexibility and a sense of adventure as you navigate your own path. We appreciate that you found the journey more adventurous by interacting with local people along the way. Please also note, we provide pre-departure briefings to all clients for this exact reason. Thank you for choosing Follow the Camino, and despite these issues, we hope that the overall Camino experience was still a memorable one for you.
Fantastic experience: I must congratulate Follow the Camino for making everything run so smoothly during my week on the Camino. From the 1st phone call when asking about the Camino to the final paperwork by both post and online everything went 100% according to plan. I would recommend Follow the Camino to anyone thinking of doing the Camino. Thanks for all the help.
Hi Declan, Thank you so much for your kind words. We truly appreciate your feedback and we're glad we met your expectations. At Follow the Camino, we strive to make every experience an unforgettable one!
Fantastic experience: Excellent Camino planning. Very responsive, thorough and knowledgeable. Our trip was perfect! Even the weather!
Hi Carrie, Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate your positive feedback! We look forward to planning your next Camino adventure :)
Fantastic experience: 'Follow The Camino' booked our 'journey of a lifetime' and they made our booking simple and our travel seamless, stress-free, and fabulously enjoyable. We had a 40-day customized itinerary, staying at 34 different inns, but there was never even one hitch with our reservations or baggage transfer. While a few of our inns were (as clearly advertised) a bit modest, nearly all delighted us with hospitality, location, charm, and comfort. Without FTC's expert logistics skills, their up-to-date knowledge of food and lodging, their experience and guidance with 'all things Camino' ... I am really not sure that our Camino Frances would have been nearly as joyful as it was! We met pilgrims on our Camino who were dealing with booking problems, but none of them had used “Follow the Camino”. We’re already planning our next Camino with Follow The Camino.
Hi Susan, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that your Camino experience with Follow The Camino was seamless, stress-free, and enjoyable. It's fantastic that our customized itinerary, hassle-free reservations, and smooth baggage transfer made your journey of a lifetime truly remarkable. We're delighted to have exceeded your expectations, and we look forward to planning your next Camino adventure with us! Buen Camino!
Fantastic experience: I am so glad we located Follow the Camino! They saved me so much time with planning and I did not need to worry about a thing! When I initially contacted them they sent me an itinerary based upon my query and worked with me to adjust as needed to our schedule. They were always expedient with responses and answered a myriad of questions - even though I probably could have found the answers had I scoured all my paperwork better. ;-) I would definitely use Follow the Camino again.
Hi Dask, Thank you for your positive review! We're delighted that Follow the Camino saved you time and provided a worry-free planning experience. We were glad to help adjust the itinerary based on your needs and provide quick responses to your questions. We look forward to assisting you again in the future! Buen Camino!
