Kelair Campotel

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing experience with Kelair. Stayed at a park in France in one of their lodges. Very small and cramped and as others have noted they have an unbelievably strict deposit scheme where you're basically terrified into spending the last day of your holiday cleaning. Ours was cleaner than when we arrived and we got all the cash back but you don't expect to spend your last hours scrubbing toilets and changing the beds. No idea if they even hire staff to clean after guests because they didn't need one for ours! The absolute worst thing to happen was our reps (more than one of them, definitely two possibly three) were asking us when we were leaving, they were very keen to have us out but as we didn't leave until the afternoon we stayed until 10am which is the cut off. They were round at 9.45 checking all the rooms. Ok bit odd but we were ready to leave and had packed the car so no big problem but we said to two different reps that we'd hang around as we didn't need to shoot off. They said that's a great idea and to enjoy the pool etc. We spent a few hours in the pool with the kids and when we came out to our car a woman (who later claimed to be the managing director!) marched over shouting and asking who we were and why we were at the park. She said we were only there for one day and we should be gone. I corrected her and said we had been here a week but we leave today and she said 'yes so you are not allowed to be here now' I told her Kelair staff said it was fine and she said they were wrong and we must leave as she cant accommodate guests after they check out. This was completely opposite to what we'd been told and put a real sour note to the end of our holiday and she ended up calling me stupid in front of our kids which was frankly bizarre considering it was her mistake and she acknowledged that since we were with Kelair it wasn't my issue but the companies. She flat out refused to apologise though and got more and more aggressive despite it clearly being her mix up. On the whole the experience was poor for the money paid and the lodges are cramped and very basic. We would not recommend.

Negative experience: We stayed in Playa Montroig in June. It is a lovely camp site with plenty of activities for families. However Debbie and Steve the Kelair reps ruined our holiday. When we arrived at the Kelair reception I didn’t see anyone and I walked around. She appeared like a bull declaring this is reception wait here. The two of us were in the reception small hut and after a long awkward silence I asked is it with yourself . Yes it is follow me. No hello , welcome nothing. We were threatened with our deposit if the place wasn’t kept clean and told it was a new cabin. It wasn’t a clean cabin when we arrived. Mid way through our holiday a cat pulled our rubbish bag out onto the balcony and ripped it. Steve was passing and we asked him for a spare plastic bag. He ate the head off my husband who was trying to clean the balcony for not having a spare bag. He was so loud and drew every cabins attention. Debbie appeared the day before we left . We did look for our reps during our holiday as we had questions but they were never available . She threatened us with our deposit and said . If this place isn’t clean I’ll be charging you €20 per hour to clean it. I have no problem keeping your deposit. It must be left as you found it or there will be consequences. She was shouting as she said it and very aggressive . Any queries we had we went to the main reception for fear of them. Another family has sick children and needed new sheets and were afraid to ring Debbie and Steve. They also got the same threats. Steve drives far too fast on the cart and narrowly missed driving into our car. We all got a fright. They seem to have been moved from a resort in France and I can see why. I would stay in playa montroig again but not with Kelair because of these reps. I would recommend booking directly with the resort.

Negative experience: The bungalow we stayed in at the Playa Montroig campsite was not clean, there was dust and hair under the beds, the shelves were dusty, kitchen utensils were dirty, and overall cleaning was quite absent, as well as the very worn sheets and stains that had not come out in the wash (I imagine). The lady in charge of the check-out (Debbie) is very rude, she doesn't speak any Spanish and doesn't talk to you, she shouts at you. When it was time to leave, she started opening and taking out pots and utensils that we hadn't used, saying they were dirty and that we should wash them again. We tried to explain to her that we hadn't used them and that they were like that when we arrived, but she wouldn't listen, she just shouted that we had to clean them. For example, we don't like tea, we didn't use the teapot at all and we brought our own coffee maker, and she insisted that the teapot had to be cleaned because it was dirty... the ladles were stuck together and we didn't use them and she told us we had to scrape them and leave them clean. From what I've read in other reviews on Booking, she is known as Lieutenant O'Neill by other guests who have experienced the same. It was a very ugly way to end the vacation, to be honest. We would return to the campsite but never with KelAir.

Negative experience: We had a very bad experience with how we were treated by the Kelair worforce at Camping Montroig. The Mobile Home was delivered quite dirty to us and they threatened us to not giving back to us our 100€ deposit (supposed only for broken stuff) if we were not cleaning even the stuff we did not use. The tone and manners of Debbie were particularly bad. She was agressive and shouting at us. Would never rent again with Kelair.

Fantastic experience: Le littoral & les Genet. Great camp site highly recommend both places. Visited both campsites twice.

Fantastic experience: Ideal camping to rest and disconnect. Very well connected with a bus stop at the entrance. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Just stayed at Vilanova park in Spain the caravan and the site was absolutely fine but the rep at the site was a horror story ..she accused us of lying when our son was in he's room whilst we went out .(he's 17) so lights were left on then we got told we wasn't normal People for leaving a light on ..complaint in her pyjamas and just being very angry ...won't be booking with these again

Fantastic experience: We have been at the Castell Montgri campsite in the Kelair mobile homes and everything was great, and the service from Joanna was excellent.

Fantastic experience: Super site full of activities for all ages.

Positive experience: The mobile home was small for 6 people, it was just big enough for 4. Everything was there but it smelled musty. There was no hair dryer and iron. There was a lot of noise. From 10 pm the children especially from the irish people began to play and make noise untill 1 am. The staff was friendly and helpfull.

Fantastic experience: Great company with honest people.

Fantastic experience: Can't fault the booking process, or our experience staying at the Campotel at Le Yole. Having never booked a camping holiday before the lovely booking agent helped guide us to the best camp site for us, tips on how to pack and what to bring. Then upon arrival we were met by a lovely campotel courier, Maria, who had stayed late to greet us. Our mobile home felt like we were the first people to have ever stayed in it, spotlessly clean and fully equipped. Thank you for making a much needed break a wonderful experience.

Negative experience: Well shattered, 3 weeks after I booked and as soon as they saw we were 4 young people aged 18 and 19, they canceled my reservation AT THE LAST moment, thank you for ruining the only vacation I had ;)

Fantastic experience: The staff are outstanding, so much fun and helpful. The facilities were spotless clean and literally wouldn't need to leave the camp but if you did loads of dining options available close by

She did all of the legwork for us, nothing was too much trouble. We've travelled with Kelair twice before and both campsites were brilliant. Can't wait to go back!
