Our comment from TraTraTravel Ireland about Gray Line Ireland:
Gray Line Ireland offers memorable tours that showcase the stunning landscapes and rich history of Ireland. Customers have praised the comfortable buses, with features like free Wi-Fi and charging ports, and the friendly, knowledgeable guides, particularly highlighting Richard, Eoin, and Padrick for their engaging storytelling and humor.
Many travelers expressed their appreciation for the informative commentary provided during tours, which adds depth to the experience, especially at iconic sites like the Cliffs of Moher and Malahide Castle. The breathtaking views and well-planned itineraries generally leave a lasting impression on visitors.
However, some reviews pointed out areas for improvement, such as the pace of speech from the guides and the organization of certain trips, particularly regarding stopovers and cancellation policies. While most guests enjoyed their tours immensely, a few experienced issues with delays and communication during trips.
Overall, Gray Line Ireland is highly recommended for its enjoyable and insightful tours across the beautiful Irish landscape, making it a great choice for anyone looking to explore the country.
Gray Line Ireland: Reviews
Positive experience: We did the standard Loch Ness trip. Although the guide had been very attentive and talkative, we were able to understand less than 50% of what he said because he was speaking too fast with a strong scottish accent (as a turist guide, it was expected that he spoke more slowly). The trip was very tiring, and the chosen stopping points were not the best ones. At Loch Ness, we neither stopped near any castle nor the most famous viewpoints of the loch. We didn't get the 45 min extra boat trip because we thought the trip was already too expensive. After the trip, we learned that there were many more interesting stopping points that we could have been to.
Fantastic experience: My sister and I travelled to Dublin back in April 2019. Although I am writing this review almost 2 years later, it had an everlasting impression on our overall experience of Ireland. We truly had such a lovely time on this tour. The tour started early morning in the city centre area. Our tour guide/bus driver, Richard O'Brien was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We learned so much about Ireland's history that we previously never knew, which is very important to us. We made a few stops along the way to the Cliffs of Moher. We have a great memory at our lunch spot, within a small town. When we arrived at the Cliffs of Moher, it was a very cold and windy day, just out of a Harry Potter movie. I would highly recommend this tour and particularly with our tour guide, Richard. It was a once in a lifetime experience and something we will never forget. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: The experience with the agency was good, comfortable bus, friendly and playful tour guide, no problems at all. Some tips about the tours in Dublin: - They happen rain or shine - No refunds if you want to cancel - Prices are a bit high. But the experience is totally worth it! The Cliffs are fantastic!
Fantastic experience: Awesome tour was a misty day on 11/26/2019 Was a perfect day tour guide was awesome And shared a lot of interestin facts on the way to the cliffs then Galway.
Fantastic experience: Travelled too cliffs of moher and Galway yesterday with Noel! Such a friendly man and definitely taught me alot about Irish history as he talks throughout the tour! Coach was fairly comfortable and had free wifi and charging port! Would 100% recommend booking a trip with them!!!
Fantastic experience: Driver Patrick is the best! The best!
Fantastic experience: Just I wanna say 'beautiful'
Fantastic experience: Easy to book, reasonable priced, convenient location. We had an amazing driver cum tour guide, very experienced driver and a good entertainer on board. Smooth ride throughout. Clean new coach, comfortable seats. We were on track and on schedule.
Fantastic experience: Tour was great and driver Eoin was even better. He was hilarious.
Fantastic experience: Adam, the guide was brilliant, funny and super smart.
Negative experience: Poor information provision, waiting 1 hour for the bus while they say one comes every 20 minutes, not true. Use the other company.
Fantastic experience: Our driver tour guide was brilliant. Castle and grounds so interesting and historical.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful view
Fantastic experience: I took a day tour to cliffs of moher from visitor center Dublin, 118 Grafton Street with grayline and it was a great experience. Totally recommend doing this tour.
Fantastic experience: Incredible
Fantastic experience: NICE
Fantastic experience: My daughter and I had a fantastic trip to Glendalough and Wicklow with Grayline. A huge thank you especially to our amazing guide Eoin, who talked, sang, and told anecdotes throughout the trip - almost non-stop. On the trip, we saw Wicklow, where countless movies have been filmed, such as the bridge from 'PS I Love You'. Films like 'Braveheart' and 'Vikings' have also been filmed in this incredibly beautiful landscape composed of hills, mountains, and lakes. In Glendalough, we could choose to hike with Eoin as our guide, which we chose. Beautiful lakes and a lovely hike. A trip I would definitely recommend, especially with Eoin as a guide.
Negative experience: WE BOOKED "CLIFFS OF MOHER DAY TOUR" DEPARTING IN FRONT OF THE AGENCY "DUBLIN VISITOR CENTRE GRAFTON ST., WHERE WE PURCHASED THE TOUR, WITH GRAY LINE IRELAND BUS. AN INTERESTING TOUR IF ONLY WE HAD TAKEN IT!! TOO BAD THAT DURING THE OUTBOUND TRIP, AT THE FIRST STOP (at 11:50) AT THE SERVICE STOP OF MONEYGALL - "BARACK OBAMA PLAZA" - PERHAPS DUE TO A 2/3 MAXIMUM MINUTE DELAY OF OURS, WE WERE LEFT BEHIND BY THE BUS AT A SERVICE STATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRYSIDE AND ABOUT 140 KM FROM DUBLIN. CALLING THE AGENCY WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE TRIP - DUBLIN VISITOR CENTRE - THEY SIMPLY TOLD US THAT EVERYONE ELSE GOT ON THE BUS AND THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE!! (FOR EXAMPLE, WHAT TO DO/WHICH MEANS TO TAKE TO RETURN) ONLY AFTER WITH THE HELP OF AN IRISH DRIVER STATIONED AT THE SERVICE STOP WERE WE ABLE TO CONTACT THE DRIVER OF THE BUS WHO INFORMED US THAT SINCE HE WAS CLOSE TO THE DESTINATION, HE ONLY WOULD BE ABLE TO PICK US UP IN THE EVENING ON HIS RETURN - 8 HOURS WAITING AT THE SERVICE STOP? THANKS TO THE VERY KIND PERSON WE MET AT THE SERVICE STOP, WE WERE ESCORTED TO LIMERICK AT THE BUS STOP - WHERE WITH DUBLIN COACH AND OVER 2 HOURS OF TRAVEL WE RETURNED TO DUBLIN. I LIKED IRELAND AND I WILL RETURN TO SEE THE CLIFFS. BUT I CERTAINLY WILL NOT TURN TO OR RECOMMEND DUBLIN VISITOR CENTRE AND GRAY LINE IRELAND! THE WORST THING OTHER THAN THE MONEY AND THE ENTIRE DAY LOST (ON 2 DAYS OF VACATION) WAS THE TOTAL LACK OF CONTROL BEFORE AND ASSISTANCE AFTER. P.S. WE WERE INSIDE THE SERVICE STOP BUT MAYBE 15/20 METERS IN A STRAIGHT LINE FROM THE BUS AND A SIMPLE HONK WOULD HAVE CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION.
Fantastic experience: It's overwhelming... when you catch the right light. Some are very reckless, climbing over the barrier despite warning signs... unbelievable
Fantastic experience: Amazing view
Fantastic experience: Amazing, a must see
Fantastic experience: Nice service in Dublin. 'Brian & Mark' excellent attention during trip!
Positive experience: A great experience and a fun and educational way to spend a day in Ireland. Our bus driver was fun but did make a bit too many jokes for my liking. Another thing is that the weather will probably not be cooperational if youre looking for the perfect photograph. Still would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Thank you our great and fine driver/guide Padric O'Connell for unbelievable visit of Cliffs of Moher. Everything was in time and interesting.
Fantastic experience: Very interesting tour for those who want to get to know Irish culture better. Few participants, serene environment.
Fantastic experience: Thanks to Eoin for a fantastic day...highly recommend the tour to Newgrange...the commentary was excellent and very informative and Eoin made the day extra special. Great memories to bring back to Cork, Cecilia and Breda
Fantastic experience: Our travel agent booked this tour so we were sure what to expect. Really it's just a giant bus that takes you to the Cliffs of Moher but our driver and guide Padrick O'Connell was really great. He provided fun facts and jokes along the way and even showed ET on the way back to make a long drive seem much shorter. We appreciated his humor and would highly recommend him. Great job! Side note: bring snacks and water bottles and go to the bathroom at every stop (Padrick advises as much but I dont think everyone listened).
Negative experience: I would like to show my disagreement with the organisation of the tours of Gray Line. We booked and bought the tickets for three day trip tours: Wicklow, Cliffs of Moher and the Giant Causeway. The first tour (Wicklow...) was fine. There were no problems. However, the trip to the Cliffs of Moher was plenty of inconvenients. For example, the bus was broken after having visited the Burren and had to wait for some time while the bus was being repaired. Consequently, we could not stop in the castle in which it was supposed we were going to to take a photo. We must highlight that the coach had the air conditioning very high during all the journey. Even if we and many other passengers asked both the tourist guide and the driver to low it, they did not do it until nearly the end of the tour. We found this very unconsidered as many people, one of my children included, were completed wet. Our child got a cold and we decided to cancel de next trip (Giant Causeway) as that was quite a long day trip for a sick boy. We contacted the company by telephone to do it and somebody said that we could switch it for another trip but that we wouldn't have any refund. Therefore, we think that the information given on the Gray Line web is misleading as it is said that a trip can be cancelled without any charge if it is done 24 in advance. After this conversation, we went to a Gray Line information point where there was a lady who told us to go to another information point because she did not know how to make the changes we had suggested. Once we had arrived at that other information point, we were said that we could change the Giant Causeway trip with another one but the truth is that there were only vacancies to go to Malahide castle. We were not completely agree with that because it was obviously much cheaper than the Giant Causeway trip. We suggested to book another trip, apart from the Malahide one, (to Newgrange...) for two friends who live in Dublin for another day but the person in charge said that this was not possible. We consider that this has not been fair at all because we lost quite a lot of money. Another solution should have been given: a refund or something else really equivalent. We would not recommend Gray Line...
Negative experience: The Cliffs of Moher are a beautiful landscape, but things did not go very well with Grayline. Although they state that trips can be canceled 24 hours in advance, this is misleading. We tried to cancel because we had a sick child, among other reasons, since we had done another tour (Cliffs of Moher) the day before, and even though more than one passenger asked to turn off the air conditioning because it was cold after we got wet at one of the stops. They only offered to change it for another, shorter, and cheaper tour with no possibility of getting a refund for the difference. By the way, on that tour, the bus also broke down. The driver managed to fix it, but we lost time to make a stop at a beautiful castle that was included in the tour. To give you a discount, they offer you the chance to write a review on TripAdvisor recommending the tours without having done them yet. There are very capable staff, but others do not know what to do in these cases. They told us to go from one of their bases to another because they didn’t know what we could do. I do not recommend it, especially if you are going with children. The problem is probably with the company and not the staff.
Fantastic experience: The driver was very nice, I would repeat a trip again. It was very entertaining, you could laugh and get to know the culture a little better.
Fantastic experience: I did the tour to Malahide castle and the small village on the way back. I had a great time with Eoin, the most funniest driver / guide I ever met. He provided us with all the information that one expects and in addition with tons of jokes. The castle itself is very interesting and definitely a good spot to visit. The small village is also a nice place for a little rest.
Fantastic experience: Great visit.
Fantastic experience: Magnificent
Fantastic experience: Se
Fantastic experience: The Travel to Giants Causeway was wonderfull.
Fantastic experience: It was a nice tour! Such a friendly stuff!! Definitely recommended!!
Fantastic experience: Cliff of moher are absolutely amazing!! Probably the best natural attraction in Ireland
Fantastic experience: I was too lazy to organize the trip by myself and i was very happy to choose this company. The guide from spain resigned himself that it was only his second day of work, but i didn't notice he was a beginner. He was so friendly and his English was clear despite of his Spanish accent. I recommend!
Fantastic experience: The drive to Moher was absolutely worth it. Every Ireland vacationer should definitely take this experience. And if you have such a brilliant driver (Patrick) like we did, nothing can go wrong. Thank you for this beautiful day. Barbara and Nadine
Fantastic experience: We took the tour to the cliffs of moher and we can really recommend it. From the beginning to the end it was a beautiful tour with the best bus driver you can have (Richard). Also we had luck with the weather.
Fantastic experience: Thank you to guide Eoin for sharing with us his passion for his country!
Thank you so much for your review! :-) All the best, Brian L
Fantastic experience: Absolutely recommended. Guide Eoin was great, super funny and nice!
Thank you so much for your review! :-) All the best, Brian L
Fantastic experience: Thank you very much to Eoin, our exceptional guide of generosity for our visit to Malahide on the weekend of January 26 in Dublin.. a punch and unparalleled responsiveness despite the fact that we spoke little English .. Like our guide Eoin, I recommend the fish and chips from Crabby Jo's at Malahide harbor.. Great... My husband and I thank you for your Irish good humor .. Thank you so much Eoin... AMÉLIE
Thank you so much for your review! :-) All the best, Brian L
Fantastic experience: It was a really beautiful tour, and we were quite lucky with the sunny weather. Our tourguide was Richie. A really great guide. He knew a lot about the places we drove through, and when me and my sister weren't sure what to do, he helped us with a few tips on were to go. Even though we normally don't feel comfortable on small mountain roads, the way he drove showed that he had a lit of experiance, and it made that we were able to relax during the drives. 10/10
Thank you so much for your review! :-) All the best, Brian L
Fantastic experience: We went to the Cliffs of Moher. Our driver Padrick O'Connell was fantastic. He has a wealth of information and personality. I don't think the trip would have been the same without him! Thank you!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing experience and beautiful natural place. If the weather is good, I really recomend to visit the cliffs by boat. The guide is an attraction of himself, a great storyteller who really knows his homeland and he has a great personal background.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place
Fantastic experience: I have been to this beautiful place twice and would recommend it 1,000 times. Pure nature and spectacular landscapes. Just make sure to bundle up because you will feel quite cold as the cold wind blows strongly on those cliffs.
